I really like these shorts. I’m needed something similar for a while but finally bit the bullet when I had a trip planned for hot weather and jungle excursions. I purchased the 2x in both black and blue due to previous reviews talking about sizing. I’m generally a solid 2x on the bottom but these both big. The blue fit okay enough they were usual like but I definitely would have preferred a 1x which wasn’t available. The black were HUGE. When held flat against each other there is at least two extra inches of fabric on the black. The length is the same on both. I really appreciate the 5” length. It’s hard finding shorts that aren’t too short for these thighs or down to my knees strictly because I’m plus sized. ... show more

Got a medium which is my usual size in Columbia shorts - I have wider hips & thighs. The waist was a bit big on these but overall they are very comfy and I like that they don't wrinkle. Leg openings are perfect width for muscular legs. The only thing I don't like is that when I sit down the pocket linings hang out. I have to pull down the hem to cover them. Being 5’2 with athletic thighs , I appreciate work out shorts that I can easily move in, that also cover my backside. The wide and flat waist band is flattering and does not cut into you. They have also washed well without shrinking or fading. The general cut and style of these shorts have allowed me to get away with wearing pairing them with a linen button down and sandals for a less athletic look. Update June 2022: Originally wrote a 5 star review for these (below) in black. That still stands. However, because I liked these so much I wanted a different color and ordered them in Navy. I purchased a medium just as I did in the black and when I tried them on they were skin tight. I then exchanged those for a large, which I could barely keep up they were so loose. So, if you’re considering these shorts and can find the right size, they will last a long time and you’ll probably love them, but don’t plan on buying multiple colors. I love these shorts so much, I recently purchased a second pair. They have just the right amount of stretch and don’t fit too snugly, so you can comfortably wear them running errands or on a hike. They also are the right length where they don’t ride up, and the pockets are great. I have also worn them to work with a nice blouse and didn’t feel they were out of place. ... show more
