My first hike with them hurt one of my ankles a bit, but it was hot out, so I didn't have thick socks on. They were fine after that first time, but probably not great for summer/spring use. They are super thick on the bottom too, so you can't really grip or feel the earth like you would with a smaller hiking shoe, but I love them! I normally wear a size 10 shoe. These I got in a 10.5 as some customers said they run small. Glad I did because had I purchased size 10, with thick socks they'd be too snug in the toe area. I wanted a decent pair of lightweight, waterproof hikers with a rugged tread; these fit the bill. They are comfortable right out of the box and look great. The cushioning/arch support is fine, but I always need more so I bought extra arch supports and now the boots are perfect for me. Very happy with this purchase! ... show more

I bought these a 1/2 size up from my normal size since other reviews suggested to do so. They were a little big, but nothing thick sockes couldn't fix. I have worn them for several outdoor hikes, camping trips, and even as work boots. I love this entire line of Columbia boots - Newton Ridge Plus - I have two pairs in two different colors. They are the MOST comfortable boot! They hold up super well. I have hiked major trails in Kentucky, went through mud, wet fields, stood long hours in my shop on concrete - and my feet always feel so good and solid in them. I have wide feet and have had numerous foot and ankle issues over the years. I have tried at least a dozen boots and hikers the past few months available through Prime Try before you buy. I have had no luck, until now. They feel like they were made for my feet. The foot bed is cushiony but supportive. The sole is solid, but flexes when I walk. These are definitely comfortable. I am usually a size 7 1/2 and that is what I ordered. They are a little roomy and as I break them in they may feel too roomy. I will be able to layer some thick socks if needed for sure!

I did a 3 hour hike in these right out the box. I was a little worried if I should have broke them in a bit first, but they were great. Very comfortable and have a good grip when I was scaling rocks. I can’t speak on the durability but so far worth the money.
