  • Great cool hiking pants
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Tusk
Get them with 1 size larger waist, they don't stretch, length is ok. Lightweight but durable, dries quickly, plastic belt is great for plane travel, packs in a small space. Wash in cool water, air dries overnight. I have 8 pair now and wear 8 months in Dallas warm weather. Only problem, prior pair had zipper on pocket fail and come apart after 1 year. Prior pants version also has net style front pockets and no problems, new pants version netting has slightly bigger holes so we'll see how durable it is. Very nice in hot, warm or cool weather, breathes easily. Not sure about cold weather. ... show more

  • They are great. They are very light
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Black
I'm a bike commuter and have been wearing these pants on-and-off for eight months, now. They are great. They are very light, so they are perfect for those days when it's just a little too cool in the morning but will be too hot by late afternoon: just zip-off the lower pant legs and you're wearing comfortable shorts for the ride home. They also look good enough for a casual business-casual. Many days I can skip having to change into work pants. But I'm writing this morning because I just wiped mud off of my black pair. It rained heavily last night, and there were mud puddles all along my route. Try as I might, I still got to work with spots of mud up-and-down the legs of my pants. "Just great," I thought, "I'm going to have to change and then wash these when I get home." But I wiped them gently with a damp paper towel, and they came completely clean! I can't believe it. I didn't even use any soap and really almost no water -- just a damp paper towel. Thank you, Columbia, for a great pair of pants. ... show more

  • Stands up to trail living
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Tusk
After a couple of BWCA trips I have settled in on these as my daily pants. Light, tough, comfortable. Belt it only piece that falls short, due to buckle.

  • Great Value - Despite Velcro/Zippers
For the price, these are a great value. I normally wear 36 pants and they would normally feel baggy. These 36s fit perfectly just not quite the bagginess I would want for a hot, humid, trekking kind of vacation. So, I went with 38, and tightened the belt a little - fit perfectly for my needs. I took off one star because of the zippers and flimsy velcro on most of the pockets. But these are a solid 4 and great value. I'm not sure about durability but even with the few issues, these should last at least 3-4 trips. And, at this price, it's an easy decision for buy again despite the opportunities for improvement. What I like: - they're great shorts - nice long inseam like board shorts - incredibly light and easily packable pants - multi functional brilliance in terms of travel clothing - adding/removing the leg parts is pretty easy and fast - material is very thin and breathes well in hot, humid climates - or sitting on a plane for 12-hours. It seems rugged and rip stop so it should be durable - it's just so thin I can't help but wonder. I'm pretty sure the zippers will fail first. - Dry very fast - easily washed on the go and dry by morning - very nice. - front pockets are nice and big and deep - easy hemmed for fit perfection (no side zippers) What I didn't like: - zippers could be better - left cargo pocket couldn't be closed with one hand because of cheap zipper getting caught every time. Annoying. Better zipper choices would have been better. - right cargo pocket should be zippered instead of tiny little piece of velcro. While the velcro was handy for grabbing a camera lens or park ticket for quick access - I kept checking to make sure I didn't lose something. I never did but it made me self-conscious since it didn't close securely. - more and better zippers; back pockets are just small little velcro patches (like right cargo pocket) so they're really unusable - you can't trust them - especially in crowds - too easy to pickpocket. Update: OK, I'm changing my review to 5-stars. Despite the room for improvement, at this price I have to call these as 5-stars. I hope they make the improvements and just up the price a few bucks. I would buy these again in a second and highly recommend. ... show more

  • The perfect extended hike pants.
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Gravel
I bought these for extended hikes on the recommendation of a friend who wore them on the AT and PCT. I am happy that I did. I've tried several convertible pants. Few allow you to purchase the accurate size. I'm a 38W and 30L and these fit perfectly. The integrated ultralight belt works superb. I was looking for something durable and ultralight. These fit the bill. Some pants I've purchased have side zips around the ankle. These do not. I prefer without since I can then take them up if needed. The location of the zipper for removing the legs is ideal, a few inches above the knee. The removed legs are labeled making it easy to know which leg goes where. I am not a fan of velcro for extended trips. These have velcro on the back pockets and the right leg cargo pocket. Left leg cargo pocket is zippered. I've only been out in them twice, but so far they are everything I was told they'd be. I'll be ordering more. ... show more

  • No longer accept an 1-3/4" belt
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Gravel
I own 15+ Columbia Silver Ridge pants and have worn them since the late 2000's. I wear them daily in warmer months and for backpacking. I also wear a 1-3/4" wide ratchet belt to keep my waistband from rolling. I ordered two new pants in my favorite color, and while getting dressed, I couldn't get my belt in the loops. I couldn't figure it out until I held an older pair up against the new ones. The new version has the belt loops stitched on the surface of the pant waistband, not stitched internally on the top of the loop. This reduces the width of the belt they will accept. I get wanting to cut costs and speed production, but it makes me wonder what else they have changed. I have some that are 15 years old, and no wear shows. Others have worn out from chafing, and some have snagged on briars or abraded when hiking. I have recommended them to friends, but will no longer. Reluctantly, I will look for a better-made replacement. ... show more

  • Great hiking pants
These are GREAT hiking pants as they are COOL, but they are also great travel pants. I love them when traveling as they don't bunch and bind my crotch when I am seated on a plane for long periods of time. When we travel to Florida I just zip off the legs if I need a pair of shorts. When traveling they dry quickly after laundering. Sometimes I sink-wash them, roll them up in a towel, hang them for the night, and they are ready to go again! If you travel a lot you need several pairs of these. ... show more

  • Columbia quality??? Not anymore.
Size: 38W x 30L Color: Tusk
Just got these pants, wore them for 2 hours to my office job with one small thing in the cargo pocket. Turns out there’s a massive hole and the stitching is coming out. It’s unfortunate because they’re lightweight and comfortable. Obviously I’ll be returning on not buying again. Do not recommend, looking at the quality of the stitching on the whole pants is just cheap and won’t hold up to day to day activities, especially if the pocket can’t hold up at my desk job. ... show more
