Value: Great value! These were less than $40.00. The usual price is $50 or more. Durability: Over the years I have had several pair and never lost a button, had a torn seam, or a broken zipper. They keep their color and do not fray. Essentially last forever. I have only given these away when I gained or lost weight and suspect their new owners got a lot of wear out of them too. Belt: Despite another reviewer disparaging the belts I like them. They do what belts are meant to do, keep your pants up. You can always use a different belt if you prefer a different look. The loops accept a normal sized belt, but not a wide belt. Care: Wash on normal cycle dry on normal cycle. Leave the belt in preferably buckled so it does not get snagged in the washer. Alternatively just rinse them, hand wring, and hang up to dry. They dry quickly. Best climate for use: Hot, warm or cool. Better get some long johns if you want to wear them in cold weather. Definitely casual wear good for outdoor activity; although, probably acceptable in many work environments. Fit: I bought 36w32l and they fit fine with a little give if your true waist size is 37. These are a great pair of pants for hiking and light backpacking, took on a 12 mile, 1-night trip and had no issues. Order a size up (in waist measurement) from your typical pant sizing though, the thigh portion of the pant legs are very tight. After receiving a first pair (in the size I typically wear jeans), I could barely fit my thigh through the pant leg. I examined the photo on the listing and noticed that even the model had a very tight fit around the thigh, so this must be by design. I have a few pairs of these pants from Columbia. They are perfect for spring, summer and fall and have held up well. My one complaint is that this pair had one of the back pockets rip on day one. Not a big deal but it did cost it one star.

Size: 36W x 32L Color: Gravel
These pants are extremely comfortable, almost like wearing pajama bottoms but with more substance to them. There is a little area of elastic around the waist-band that snugs them up perfectly on me in the waist. I normally wear a 31 inseam, but like so many other pants on the market, these were listed only in even inseam lengths so I selected a 32. Perhaps they are a little short to be a true 32, but they fit fairly well on me for the inseam. There are enough pockets on them to work well as travel pants and most of them have velcro closures to keep things secure and one pocket has a zipper. My two complains are that the material is a little thin and the belt buckle seems flimsy. The material is rip-stop nylon with spandex so it is going to strong enough for hiking, etc. but you can feel air passing through them. These pants are perfect for Spring, Summer and most of Fall. They should keep you cool on a summer hike. However, I can tell by wearing them that they will be too cool for me during the winter, particularly if the wind is blowing and the temperature is below 45 degrees. However, they are excellent for summer weather as full pants or as shorts and for most of the Spring-Fall seasons. Very comfortable when the temperature is in the upper 80s. They are not wind-proof or water-proof. They are quick drying so you could wash them in a sink in the evening and they will be dry in the morning. They can be tightly folded to save space when packing your suitcase. ... show more

I ordered these zip leg pants for my husband to use on our recent vacation and he loved them. He has some zip leg pants already that are thicker, but these worked much better for traveling to a warm climate. They are nice enough to wear to dinner or for hiking. It was so convenient having the versatility because our mornings were cool, but as the day went on it got hot. I hike a lot in very hot weather, and most hiking pants I tried either too thick, lack of breathing, or stuck to the skin in the humid hot days. This columbia brand pants' material is great, it's the second pair I bought. Only thing is it tends to be a bit longer, I usually wear 36w x 34 but for this I have to choose 36w x 32 for a good fit. ... show more

Pants are great as far as durability, design and functionality that you would expect from the other reviews they truly are great pants. Sizing is hit and miss depending on your build. 3 stars for the inconvience of having to reorder and ship product out and wait for it again. Pants have a slimmer cut to them through the butt and thighs (if you are muscular or have a bubble bum- you WILL have problems). Waist size was about 1 size off (wear 34, need a 36). Due to the cut of the bum and upper legs, wearing a base layer or longer underwear (I had lightweight Merino underneath) was uncomfortable and did not leave enough play in gusset and stitching that I would be comfortable kneeling, stooping and moving around in them as desired. Overall, if you are a "normal" or "thin" build, these pants for sizing should be great. If you consider yourself "muscular" or on the heavier side, order a full size up than what you need. These pants were not designed for us bigger more athletic guys. ... show more
