I have been a devout Merrell boot buyer for well over a decade. All that has ended. They first discontinued by favorite boot, replaced it with one one similar, and what used to last me two years now costs more and doesn't last 6 months. Next was a comparable pair of Wolverines, no arch support in them what so ever, and given my high arch, they went back immediately. I was never really familiar with Columbia products up until Xmas a year ago when my sister bought me one of their soft shell jackets. Loved that thing. Well the zipper failed on it this past fall and I contacted columbia. They gave me full price credit on the jacket for their website. FOund them on sale, and replaced the one jacket with two!. Given my boot situation I decided to order these from Columbia and see how their footwear stacks up since they obviously stand behind their product. Just got them today (ordered yesterday, thanks Amazon Prime). Unboxed them and everything looks great. Nice grippy material on the sole, stitching looks good, color is as expected. Not quite as much arch support as I'd hoped for, but at leas there's some. One thing I always appreciated about Merrell is I could take off a two yr old pair of their boots, put a brand new pair on, and hardly be able to tell a difference. They just fit well out of the box. Not saying that is the case with these from Columbia, but I don't think break-in will be a big deal. They are comfortable out of the box. Sizing is good, I ordered a 10.5 and they fit good. Lace hoops and catches are metal, not plastic. And they are pretty light for an ankle top hiking boot. I'll be wearing these daily for work, and while I don't abuse my boots, I am a trade worker so they'll see some beating. I'll wear them when working on the property on weekends cutting and clearing brush, bouncing around on the tractor, just general work. I'll wear them hunting in mild weather, and fishing as well. These boots will get tested for a while and I'll update as things progress. Should they fail we'll test Columbia's dedication to their product again, my last experience with them in that was great. More to come.

After reading other customers comments. Get a half size up. They are wrongly measured a half size down. Originally had a 11 wide sent but package got damaged and was returned. They were out of stock of 11 wide, So i read comments and then ordered 11.5 wide and the had a few in stock.. got them tried them on.. the customers comments were right on spot, so i’m telling you to ensure you get a half size up. I will spray extra waterproofing on it for extra waterproof protection and wear them for casual walking around town or for places where it gets dirty or rugged as i live in the urban / rural countryside I have other pairs of hiking boots to use for trail hiking and camping.. the reason for the 4 star is the sizing is off a little. Not a product killer.. its still a good product.

I wear a 15 and the 15 of this brand was way too tight so I got a 15 wide and boom, problem solved. I've been wearing these for a couple of months now and I've put them through the ringer using them for hiking, working and general walking around and I love them. They are actually waterproof, I've walked through several streams and got ankle deep in mud with them and my feet stayed perfectly dry. They are extremely comfortable too. For me I'm a huge dude so I always replace the insoles with gel comfort arch support insoles so I can't speak for the ones that come standard but the interior of the boots are nice and soft and they keep your feet nice and warm in below freezing weather. I will definitely buy another pair at some point.

The first time i put these boots on they were comfortable - absolutely no break-in required. They fit exactly like my size 11 feet wanted. I've worn them walking my dog for a little over a week so not a lot of miles yet. I bought them for hiking and water resistance. I applied Otter Wax for additional water-proofing, but haven't yet tested them in the rain or trail. The adventures will start in May and I'm confident they'll perform well.

These boots are very comfortable from the moment I took them out of the box. No break-in period like a lot of boots. They are very light, they felt like I was wearing a pair of sneakers. They look very similar to the Timberland boots I've been wearing for years but they are more comfortable and less expensive. If they last anywhere near as long as the Timberland boots I will definitely be buying these again.

First of all I must mention those are my first columbia shoes. Size wise - I wear mostly new balance 11.5 2E (wide) M990v4 shoes among other shoes/boots, So I choose 11.5 Wide, And those seems tighter than usual (even compared to non-wide shoes). They also feel like size 12 in length, So not that comfortable upon 1st impression. After wearing them for several hours, My feet got a bit adapted to them and they feel ok. I think I can wear them for few hours without any problems. They are relatively light weighted, But they seems built good enough to last few years as main walking gear for winter. Another thing : You can't take out the built in inner sole, So take it into consideration while choosing the shoe size.

Ordered an 11 wide, the pair fits perfectly. Honestly, I was hoping for higher coverage around or above the ankle, but these boots do not provide that. Nor does the tongue extend much above top lace knot... somewhat disappointing. Yet, the rubber sole and deep tread have provided traction on ice and snow. That's been a plus. They are comfortable, just no ankle support.

Looking for a good hiking boot with an aggressive but open tread pattern. The fit is true to size, the quality of construction looks good but time will tell, and the tread pattern was really the primary reason for purchase. My opinion for improvement would be a Vibram sole for durability and webbing on tongue to continue further to top of tongue. Priced right for this boot.
