These are def tough terrain tested! Ignore the bad reviews yes you may get a bad product in the mail but chances are slim. I hiked 10 miles total this past memorial weekend with elevations going up to 3000. I helped a buddy get his car dragged out the shoreline due to him thinking a Ford sport could be a jeep wrangler lol. Anyways when they say water resistant YES THEY ARE! KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WATERPROOF AND RESISTANT. IF YOU GET THE TONGUE WET OR SUBMERGE THE SHOES IN WATER YOU SOCKS AND FEET WILL BE SOAKED! I’ve had these boots for 9 months and am very happy with them. When they arrived, I thought there must be some mistake because the package was so light—these boots weigh the same or even less than some tennis shoes. At first they were a bit uncomfortable, in part because the factory insoles are very thin. But after I put custom insoles in them and broke them in for a week or two, they became really comfortable. I was wearing extra wide New Balance Hikers. I walk the dog in the dew in the mornings and put on 1000 miles plus per year. The New Balance became unavailable so I tried these. I have the little-toe spread in front problem and these are wide enough for my little toes without pain. I liked these at first. Lightweight and pretty waterproof. Also pretty comfortable. But not very durable. I wear these 5 days a week on a construction site. After a few months the heal area started to degrade. Now hard blue plastic in the heal is falling apart and breaks off in little chunks and feels like little pebbles in the bottom of my shoe. I bought these boots for my morning dog walks (3+ miles), this summer. Unlike Merrell products, these boots had to be broken in (got a bad blister on my heal). The finger pulls are also to small compared to other hiking boots. Now that I have them broken in, I believe they will be very good. I spent ten days wearing these boots, hiking over lava deserts, rocky moraines and scree, glaciers (with crampons attached), across watery streams, around waterfalls, etc., sometimes in the pouring rain. Best hiking boot I ever bought! I gave this little boot (Size 12) the roughest endurance test this side of Everest!! I specifically purchased this boot for a hike that was more of a rock scramble with a 5 mile rough terrain hike incorporated into it.
