No foot slippage, traction for days, good looking, super, super comfy. Very good boots. I’m a boot snob, so even though I own Hanwags, Scarpas, Danners, and Salewa boots, these are my everyday boot when I want to wear hiking boots casually or while I’m working. It needs to be noted that the tongue gusset on these stops at the top of the foot- NOT the top of the boot. That being said, I have never had the tongue sideways, or my foot inside the boot exposed due to tongue slippage. Tongue stays right in between the laces because of the way the boot is made. So even though I like the tongue gusset to come all the way up to the cuff of the boot, the low gusset on these boots have never presented me with an issue (which I was wary of). ... show more

I have a wide foot and narrow heel. I can never get a shoe to fit perfectly. But once I laced these up an made my adjustments, they were pretty good. I will still wear 2 socks as I have always done. Coach recommended it when i was in high school. I never got a blister after that. He said one pair will grip the shoe, the other pair grips your foot. Both grip each other. Don't know if that is true, but it hasn't failed me in 50 years. They were comfortable and though I got them for hiking, my wife said that they would look good with jeans. I am diabetic and need to be very careful with my shoes. I have an overseas winter urban trip coming up to where I caught myself out last time and my feet got very cold and I got blisters and had a tissue breakdown/infection that nearly killed me. These are light, very comfortable, and don't have anything sticking out the sides where you might get a snag/trip hazard due to loss of Proprioception. No severe heel strike felt either. These boots make me feel like they are hugging my feet, I don't even know they are there! They hold my feet solid but have enough flex that I can wiggle my toes like a softer shoe. They have a 'springiness' to them so when I walk my foot feels like it's being lifted or pushed up as I move it up to take a step and a cushion landing even after they are ready for the trash they don't loose that feel. They look nice in all settings and support the ankle well. Of course, using them all the time instead of just hiking wears them down (mainly the exterior/uppers) in about 9 or 10 months, but they are still good for a grunge work boot for 6 more months. My feet haven't been happier, this is my 3rd pair. For sure $65 is a reasonable price to get a good fitting, good looking, hard working pair of boots. ... show more

By far the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. Very lightweight for being leather boots. I wear them every day from the time I leave the house to the time I get ready for bed and each pair I’ve had has lasted me 10-12 months (which is about all I ever get no matter the price point). I’ve worked construction, hunted, hiked, climbed 14,000 ft mountains, and jumped out of planes with these for a couple years and the only complaints I have revolve around the boot being made of a dark leather. They don’t breathe well and because of the dark color they are miserably hot on 90+ degree days when in direct sunlight for hours. But again, they’re dark leather. I knew these were gonna be issues when I bought them the first time, but now I’m on my third pair. They’re more comfortable than any Solomon shoes I’ve ever had and I’ll continue to buy them as long as Columbia has them available. ... show more

I needed a lightweight mid-height boot that supports my ankles and has room for my orthotics inserts. I have a 1/2 inch heel lift in one shoe, and my foot feels like it is slipping out of regular shoes. My orthotics are deep, and most shoes don't have enough toe height for my feet to fit. I did change to a softer insole, which I put on top of my orthotics for comfort. It's only day 2, but so far, these are just what I was looking for! They also look really nice and trim. Length was fine, I had to get the widest size available due to intermittent swelling from a previous ankle injury/surgery. Coming out of a “Birdcage” …(external fixation device) and over 2.5 years in a walking boot. Shoes fits nicely. Allows tight enough fit to maintain position but loose enough to accommodate the wider ankle for the previously mentioned intermittent swelling. Would recommend but I am also exploring boots that are slightly higher. A design improvement would be add Velcro to allow figment without lacing. ... show more
