Columbia Men's Backcast IV Water Short (carbon): They FIT, they look good, they're ultra-fast drying. And the pockets are deep enough so stuff won't fall out at the beach. Belt loops! Columbia makes good quality products, so I was not surprised to find these were well built, comfortable, durable and lightweight. They dry VERY quickly which is great. I've actually used them as a swim suit before as well as wading shorts when fishing rivers and they do a great job in both situations. From a function perspective they are fantastic. I only gave four stars because they are a little longer than I would like, and they are a little overly "boxy" and don't really offer any style benefits... it's nitpicky but it's true. ... show more

These shorts are great; I really appreciate the belt loops! However, the Backwater III shorts had a small patch pocket on the right side; I used that pocket a lot! Dear Columbia- please bring this side pocket back, it so useful! I would also like to see a second rear pocket on the left side.
