Update FEB 2021: I recently changed my first set of filters after I had them in for 2 months. I liked them so much that I bought a dozen more. I wish Amazon would allow for the custom sizes so I can order them here, but I was able to order direct from their website. I can really noticed a difference in smells in the house. I normally smell stuff that others don't and I feel there is a noticeable difference. These also do not stress out my blower motor or slow down the air flow even though I was used to using a lower merv rated filter. I was using the lowest merv rating for a pleated filter which is a 5 or 6 I think. It also could be that these are working better because they are an exact fit in my furnace compared to what I was using which were a little big maybe. Since I got the custom size I was able to get an exact fit so there is very little if any air going around the filter. After the 2 months I took the filter out to change it and it was still slightly orange in color and not completely yellow. My house is pretty clean though as I use room air cleaners in all my rooms. I'm actually so happy with these filters I might consider ditching some of the room air cleaners and just changing my furnace filters more frequently. I have upped my rating to 5 stars since I felt confident enough to order a dozen filters, which will last us a year for our 2 furnace system if I change them every 2 months. Update OCT 2021: I got contacted by the manufacturer and they offered to make me two custom sized filters at no charge and send them to me. I was blown away by their honesty. I upgraded my rating to 4 stars on that alone and will further update once I get them. ---------------------------------------- Original review: We have lived in this house for 12 years and I have bought many different 16x25x1 inch filters. Some are a smidge smaller so you don't have to fight with it to get it in and out but our opening is 16x25x1 and the guard to keep it in place is 1/4" on the top and bottom so when I slide this in the top is flopping free and would easily get sucked into the furnace. How dumb can they be? I know that the sizes are not exact and a little smaller but this is even a smidge smaller than what is mentioned for the actual size. I really wanted to try this to help have more clean air but unfortunately these will be going back. This company should know better. 16x25 should only be a smidge smaller at most or they should not sell it as a 16x25 filter. So annoyed ... show more

If you are like me, you forget to change your filter. We are all guilty of this I think. I also forget to put the date I install the filter on the filter (go ahead throw shade, but seriously, you know you have too!) these are great! The color changing really helps us know it is time to swap it out. And it's also just SATISFYING to see 'oh wow, yep time to change it'. We are a dog cat cat + children household, so clean air is important (we live in a place that OFTEN has air quality issues and have air filters and plants in most rooms of our house) so these are just 1 of many tactics we use to feel safer from pollution and pet dander and the myriad of breathing hazards we are impacted by these days. These filters are sturdy - you've seen and bought the ones that you practically have to fish out of the register. These work well and are about the same price as the less wide frames you buy at the grocery store. Have reordered multiple times - these are nice to have!

I was curious about these color changing filters so the family could assess when they needed to be changed when I'm not around. I gave them a shot but they change colors within a week. I assume it's because I live in a humid environment. I think they work fine, but I just can't find their use for the color changing purpose. ... show more
