We go camping about 3 times a year but now that my son is in Cub Scouts we are at the mercy of their camping plans. While we wouldn't normally choose going tent camping in September in Central Texas, it was a scout activity so we had to figure out how we'd stay cool. I normally use air mattresses because they're easy to store and I only need two queens for my family. However, it's always a toss-up if you're going to wake up on a deflated mattress or not. It's also quite warm to snuggle up with someone, so a cot seemed like the best solution to give airflow throughout the tent and around our bodies. I slept comfortably all night on this cot with a portable fan blowing on me and in a summer sleeping bag. The next day I experienced no new aches or pains, so that's a win in my book! I am now fully supportive of camping cots and find them superior to the air mattress. If only they were as compact to store! We were able to tuck the sleeping pad into the cot so that it folded nicely and keeps it all together. We hang this in our garage so it stays out of the way. The only thing I would change is having the ability to recline. I bought a reclining cot for my son and he really enjoyed having the ability to sit up and read or look at his device. I haven't looked for it yet but if Coleman makes a reclining option, I'll be getting that for the other two in my household. ... show more

I purchased this for a family member's visit. It is easy to open and close. It's also light to carry. Very comfortable to lay on but I have a 4 inch floor mat (which I already have) and will put on top for additional comfort. What I like that it's easy to put back in the box and store in storage room. If you're looking for an inexpensive bed that is comfortable this is the one! ... show more

I'm 230lbs and this is sturdy and supportive enough for me. You're not going to make anyone think it's a real bed but it's not uncomfortable at all and the 'mattress' is comfortable! However, I'm 5'3 and when I put a pillow down, my feet hang off the edge! I'm still keeping it because it's convenient and was much cheaper than a roll-away, but I wish it were longer. I love the cot. It's easy to fold out, doesn't take much space. And the mattress fit easily on top. I slept really good on it. There's just one thing. When I wake in the mornings, I see moisture/wet spots between the underside of the mattress and the cot. Because of that I took off a star. I'm using it indoors, so it's not rain or anything from camping. The mattress covering doesn't appear wet, but I think there's moisture trapped inside, and when I sleep on it, it compresses and slowly releases that moisture out the bottom and onto the cot. I don't seem to be getting any of the moisture on myself, as I'm completely dry when I wake up, so it's just coming from the underside of the mattress. I'm wondering if the mattress absorbed moisture during shipping, since it was just in a box and not sealed at all. Or maybe I got a used one that someone used outside in the rain and it's not fully dried out. I left it out in the sun one day hoping to dry it, but it's still happening. My main concern is I don't want it to get mold or mildew from not being able to dry out. I'm thinking about cutting the cover open and pulling the mattress out so it can hopefully dry completely. I recommend putting a waterproof cover on the mattress it if you plan to use it for camping trips when there's dampness in the air, or putting it directly on the ground. Before buying, check for the XL version. If you're 6'0" plus, you'll probably be happier getting that one. This is the comfiest cot I have ever slept on. I would say it still gets uncomfortable, as it does feel like the pad loses all 'fluff' relatively quickly. I have this "same" cot from several years ago. This new one is not as long as the original by a few inches. The mattress on the new one is of lower quality. The paint job on the new one is thin & easily scratched. The old one is better on all accounts but the new one is better than a traditional army cot so even though it will break down faster than the old Coleman cot I will still keep it and be somewhat satisfied with it. If I didn't know how much better their product used to be I would probably be completely satisfied with the cot. ... show more
