Description

Colavita Organic Extra Virgin olive oil is produced from organic olives grown in Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia. As with all Colavita Extra Virgin olive oils, The organic is first cold pressed within twenty four hours of the harvest in a natural process that does not rely on thermal or chemical refinement. The result is the premium, unprocessed oil of the finest olives. Colavita Extra Virgin olive oil is USDA Certified 100% Organic, indicating only organically produced olives have been used in its production. During the colder months, olive oil will congeal during shipping. This is normal, natural, and will not disturb the quality of the oil. Please allow congealed oil to rest at room temperature for 24 hours. Imported from Italy.

The media could not be loaded. You must be aware of expiration dates I have 3 bottles. The 1st in the picture is almost gone, but had the same expiration date as the one i just recieved. I love this olive oil, but this shipment included one bottle that was leaking olive oil underneath the gold plastic over-seal. Although the plastic seal was intact, when I took it off (by the pull tab with my fingers, no knife), there was oil outside of the metal lid, which was split open. I get 2 at a time to have these on hand, so this one was past Amazon's return date by the time I got to it. Weird that the metal lid was split open underneath the plastic seal, which implies a factory bottling error. I've contacted Colavita to inform them. I'll update this rating if I receive a useful response from them. Update from 1 to 5 stars: Colavita's response was impeccable. They replaced my olive oil, with a spare to boot, and have followed up to make sure there were no problems. As I said, I love this olive oil, and the split lid was so freakish, I can't imagine it happening again (or even the first time!) ... show more

Colavita used to sell regular organic olive oil, now they sell "Mild Flavor" organic olive oil, and now there's no way to get the regular, robust flavored stuff. Besides tasting boring and bland, the Mild Flavor also lacks the polyphenol oleocanthal, which is responsible for olive oil's health benefits. It is pretty lame that I paid full price for this organic, quality olive oil and yet it's basically at the end of it's shelf life. This should be heavily discounted, seriously! It's just poor business practice to trick your customers into buying product you know is close to being thrown away.
