I love these things! Pies are easy to make and taste great. Use caution as they maintain heat for quite a while, even after after cooking. Also, definitely take care to properly season your pie iron before use. It comes with a booklet that explains that process. I seasoned mine in the oven for better control of temperature. The handles unscrew from the plates making it possible to do so. Bottom line: this is a good buy. Also, you're going to want a jar of apple pie seasoning, some brown sugar, and some applesauce ;) ... show more

We used these in a wood burning stove in a cabin. While there were some hot spots just because the stove opening wouldn’t allow for ideal positioning, overall they cooked great. I love them! Make sure you use cooking spray or butter. (But the corner I missed cleaned up pretty easily once cooled)

I seasoned them, made sure my bread was well buttered and still manage to stick EVERYTHING. And I haven’t figured out the secret to not burning the bread or to getting the sides to seal. I’ll keep trying…

I unscrewed the heads ,cleaned ,rubbed with crisco , and seasoned in 500 degree oven .After reassembling, we enjoyed making different hot sandwiches and dessert pockets. To clean ,soaked heads in sink, then cleaned , and reoiled. They are a great addition to our camp fire suppers

It is a great product. We have had a chance to use it a couple of times and it works like a champ. The only criticism is that it doesn't close super smoothly. But, it works, you just have to pay attention while closing it.
