  • So much fun to use!
Style: Double Camp Cooker
We recently got 4 for a family vacation to the Oregon dunes as we've been wanting to get them for a good amount of time and finally did it. They work great! Use a generous amount of cooking spray though so as not to stick. My hubs though I was using way too much on our girls and mine....but his stuck lol. Fun to use and easy clean. We did bacon ranch cheddar chicken wraps one day, which turned out to be my kids favorite and pizza wraps another day. Our girls had fun making their own and using these to cook for themselves over a fire. Be sure to turn frequently and check as it can burn quick. We didn't mind at all but definitely something to consider depending on how crisp you like your food. Bought a bag (different brand) from Cabela's for storage. Definitely buy if doubtful. Plus they're a pretty good price too. ... show more

  • Great for a Camp Fire
Style: Double Camp Cooker
Love this camp fire cooker! We love cast iron products since they are built to last! We use it to make mountain pies with bread, pizza sauce, and pepperoni. This past time we tried bread, ham, and cheese. I highly recommend you use butter on the outside of the bread and also spray with cooking spray. It would be hard for a child to hold this over a fire due to weight and but is suitable for an adult. The cook time depends on your fire and where you place it within the fire. We find it easiest to build some sort of ledge to place it on within your fire where it isn’t overly hot so it doesn’t burn right away. You need to use the basic bread so it will fit inside otherwise you will have to cut down the bread. ... show more

  • Nice
Style: Double Camp Cooker
Smaller than I thought and hinge feels a little weak, but it is a good size and weight to decide if I'll use it enough before investing in a more expensive one.

  • Still in use today
Style: Double Camp Cooker
The cast iron is thick and easy to use. The handle is nice and long to be able to stand back from the fire. You can make various sandwiches and desserts in the cooker.

  • Makes great smores
Style: Double Camp Cooker (New Design)
Bought this for a gift. It's so easy to use and clean. It heats up on a fire or grill which is neat. It can be used for almost anything, simple design makes it easy to use from a burger to vegetables and pies. Heavy so may not be easy for young kids to lift

  • Ready for summer!
Style: Double Camp Cooker
As soon as the pie irons arrived I unscrewed the handles, melted some coconut oil and started getting them ready for the summer. They are now in a 450 oven with their second coat of oil while I am also refreshing my other cast iron pans. The size is perfect - you want the bread to seal. What I am looking for is a way to shorten the (unscrewed) handles so I can keep them in my Stanley lunch box setup to use as little frying pans or the pie iron they are intended to be. Shorter wood handles, shorter metal handles... If anyone has any ideas. Heavier than aluminum of course, but healthier. ... show more

  • Rustic Charm, Frustrating Functionality
Style: Double Camp Cooker (New Design)
Coghlan's 2044 Cast Iron Double Camp Cooker promises rugged, campfire-ready cooking, and in that respect, it delivers. This double-pot setup, with its sturdy cast iron construction, certainly feels capable of withstanding years of abuse. However, the "easy" part of the equation is a significant stretch. Three stars feels appropriate, acknowledging the cooker's resilience while acknowledging its significant usability shortcomings. The primary frustration stems from the design. The nested pots, while space-saving for packing, are a nightmare to clean. Food inevitably gets trapped between the pot and the lid, requiring a Herculean effort with scrubbing brushes and potentially steel wool. The tight fit also makes filling and emptying a challenge, especially when dealing with boiling liquids. The cast iron itself is a double-edged sword. While it retains heat incredibly well, leading to efficient cooking once it’s up to temperature, it takes an agonizingly long time to heat up initially and cools down just as slowly. This makes precise temperature control difficult, leading to occasional burnt or undercooked food. Despite these drawbacks, the Coghlan's 2044 does manage to cook food. It's a truly effective vessel for boiling water, stews, and other hardy campfire meals. The robust construction instills confidence, and the patina developed over time adds to its rustic charm. Ultimately, this cooker is best suited for experienced campers who prioritize durability and don't mind investing extra time and effort in cleaning and temperature control. Beginners might find the challenges overwhelming. If ease of use is a priority, you might want to consider lighter, non-stick alternatives. But if you're looking for a durable workhorse that can handle the rigors of the backcountry, the Coghlan's 2044, despite its quirks, might just be worth the struggle. ... show more

  • A must for camping
Style: Double Camp Cooker
While we were all drunk around the camp fire. I decided to try this baby out. Worked prefect for campfire pies, and is extremely durable. So easy to use! Just get 2 pieces of bread and what ever filling you desire. Close it up and set the Cooker in the coals, couple minutes you'll have yourself a delicious toasted treat! 5 stars for price, function, and quality. ... show more
