Never go camping, hiking in the back country without a couple of these fires sticks in your kit. Sometimes it is just nice to be able to start a quick campfire without scratching around to find dry kindling. Reliable and have never been let down when starting a fire to warm up or cook. I break a stick up into 4 or so pieces and only use what I need to make a fire. One stick can be used to start many campfires. I also use these with the True plasma lighter. Good combo to utilize in wet windy environments when you need to get a fire started

I love these fire sticks. I could probably get away with using just a half stick to start our campfires, but I've been throwing in a whole one and I can light it and walk away. We've been having a lot of rain lately, so everything is damp. I've been putting down a layer of balled up newspaper and one of these sticks on top to keep everything off the damp bottom of the fire pit. Then I pile kindling, some larger sticks and a few small logs, then light the stick and walk away. It does take about 30 seconds or so to get the stick to light, but once it does, it burns long enough to catch everything else. This past weekend I was trying to finish cooking lunch before the skies opened up, but I didn't quite make it. I was able to burn another one of these sticks to catch some smaller sticks in order to finish cooking during the rain and the whole thing burned for at least ten minutes in the pouring rain. These come at a great price and I will be purchasing again.

10/10 these are hands-down amazing for starting campfires. I find one, snapped in half, is more than enough to light most things up. For ease of ignition, light them on the end that has been broken, hold it up until the flame takes hold, and then put it down inside where you intend to have the fire. The main advantage is these are sticks and it is easy to throw them in with your camping supplies without worrying about them breaking apart, leaking, etc. One stick is more than enough to boil at least 1 cup of water in an aluminum camping pot, in an emergency.

These are great! I use them all the time when camping, especially for getting my cookstove (which uses either twigs/pine cones or wood pellets) going. I find that breaking them in half or thirds works especially well. The thing I like about these over the white cube type fire starter is that these don't require letting the cook stove run for 10 minutes to let the "chemical" nature of the fire starter burn away. I can cook as soon as the fire is going strong and not worry about oily taste on the food like I do with the white cubes.

These fire sticks were great camping last weekend. I also received them exactly as promised with next day delivery which was helpful. They guaranteed my fire would get started ASAP and with a late arrival to camp a perfect way to start off the camping trip - knowing that I wouldn't have an issue getting my fire started and keeping it going. I have not yet used them in wet weather, but they were good with getting a fire started with damp (morning mist) wood. Best feature: size and won't fall apart too easily. Easy to carry camping, small and powerful.

Great and functional fire sticks. I use these to start small solid fuel fires in a tin can sized portable cooking crucible. They never let me down and leave no trace or smell. They also last a long time stored dry and don’t lose their function.

I stink at starting fires with just about every type of fire sparker I've used, and even with matches or a lighter it can take me a few tries to get a camp fire going. Because of that, I see these as a kind of insurance policy guaranteeing I can get the fire going, keep it going until my teepee catches, and then light a fire if I'm ever in an emergency situation. And the cool thing about these is that you don't need to carry the whole pack with you or anything like that. One stick can start several fires if broken up. Pieces can even be used, then pulled out of the fire before they burn down -- rubbed out in the dirt, and then reused for another fire. So one stick could probably get you three three or four days of backpacking. Yes, it's true that there are ways to make this kind of thing. And yes it's true that other things -- such as fine steel wool -- make for good fire starters. But I find magnesium sticks a big pain to scrape and work with. These fire sticks just take a match and they're burning enough to get your tinder going. And I think that's awesome. I've placed 1/3 of a stick in all of my emergency fire-starting kits (along with matches, lighter, fire steel, and various forms of micro-tinder), just as that insurance policy, guaranteeing I'll have flame when I really need it. ................. This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.
