The instructions are really bad, they show assembling the unit, but don't show that you have to install the T-slot nuts until the next page. Also, the t-slot nuts were a bit tight, but scraping a few times on either side with a file was enough to make them work. All the couplings are held purely by friction, which is somewhat concerning, but not a real problem considering the size and price of this thing.

This little machine is very small. Easy to put together. I got instructions for a 3018 cnc and not a 1016. You will outgrow this very fast or just give up learning.

The media could not be loaded. The pictures in the assembly directions are small hard to read and in mm. Sure the rest of the world uses them, and i can, but know a head of time you will have to check the drawing carefully each step or you will be taking it apart regularly. There is a mistake on the bolt size for the table brackets it should be the m5*10, the shorter one, and fyi the measurement of 46.5mm on the gantry position is from the inner edge of the bakelite back and you can use 1 5/16 inches if you don’t have mm ruler. Yes i had left over parts - spares? Yes, I should have looked at the included thumb drive first, they should have told me! And the motor power cords are not shown but the plug in locations are identified on the circuit board, you might note the plug ends on the wires are different, the larger one goes to the motors . I attached the red power lead to the connection on the spindle motor that has a red dot close and the spindle rotates clockwise (std) and when you snug up the cables with the wire ties- use a close cut side cutter or file/pair off the sharp point that is left sticking out to save you from scratches/cuts. I bought it cause it is cheap and i want to see if i can use it to rough out designs before sending the material to my laser or put a sanding head and clean up tight spaces. Yes i would buy it again just to reacquaint myself with milling, it might make dogtags for pets or engrave small FLAT pieces, you might do 3d but good luck with that.

Had a problem with the linear bearing which is resolved by myself, but seller is helpful and respond is prompt. Must have some basic mechanical intuition and be expected to pick up diagnostic skills, which is a requisite anyway no matter which machine you decide to purchase. No fundamental issue with the machine design, great value for money if you know how to work around it.

Assembly was pretty easy and I liked the off line control mechanism to test function as well as the included micro sd card to download cutting instructions. Make no mistake, this is a hobbyist grade tool. Perfect for learning cnc on a budget. Good for cutting wood and plastic. It also works as on over head pin router for inlay work.

My 1610 came with a 2016 manual that does not give the right setup measurements. Still trying to find the proper manual online and in groups. Not very much help available for this one. A 2016 is more popular and it is what I will buy sometime in the future. This is a learning toy but there is no book to learn from that I can find.
