  • Good book
Format: Paperback
Has some very basic information for the guy like myself that knows nothing about code

  • Make a larger size available in print.
Format: Paperback
Print and charts are hard to read. Better to buy the online version.

  • No Satisifaction...
Format: Paperback
Whereas the book seems to be a fairly well written book, my 72 year old eyes had a very hard time reading the book. The font was just too small, and the illustrations the author referred to, I had to take out my magnifying glass to understand what point he was trying to get across. Mind you, all these issues could have been eliminated if the author had published the book in a larger (notebook) size, instead of 6"x 9" format... I can generally read a book like this in a night and comprehend what I read, but this was too taxing... I made it to page 24 and had to put it down in frustration... Mind you, a person with young eyes may not have the issues I did... I will also add that if it was available in Kindle format, I could adjust the text...The authors second book is 8 1/2 x 11 and also available in Kindle, but I will have to think about it as there are many different authors to choose from on this topic... ... show more

  • Printing in screen shots is too small to read.
Format: Paperback
The material is very good, but the printing on the screen shots is so small that you need a jeweler's loupe to read it. Amazingly, the printing is so good that you can actually read it with a jeweler's loupe. BTW, I have good eyesight, so that's not the problem.

  • A valid new tool for master woodworkers
Format: Paperback
The book includes several large colorful photos of impressive examples of what a CNC (computer numerical control) system can produce. He starts with options of what type of machine one would want to buy from the basic $500 models to advanced machines around $15,000 or more. He makes suggestions allowing for the space it would require along with a noise and dust-controlled environment. The author continues with a series of instructions. However, it’s not so simple for an absolute beginner. There are a lot of details missing like the types of dust collectors required for some of the advanced machines, wood to use (soft vs. hard) and various bits that would be needed. Also, one would need to know how to design and create software programs to cut the wood. It’s a large learning curve. You could buy a very basic model that has very little functions. However, the beautiful examples in this book of a tea tray, carving of a lion’s face, cutting boards and other objects are made with complex CNC models. It would be helpful for a beginner to take a class at a local shop to have a basic understanding of what is required before investing in a machine. This is a good instructional manual for those that have worked with wood and tools. It’s not straightforward for those just starting out. After reading a few chapters, most absolute beginners would probably get lost trying to make sense of the complex process. The pieces in the book are stunning that have been designed by using a CNC system. However, it takes a long time to learn the trade and create objects at this level. ... show more
