A good CNC dust boot has been eluding me for over a year since I designed and built my CNC. I've tried some pre-made models but they left a lot to be desired when it came to chip removal. After my CNC decided to eat my longest running boot I decided to order some of these DIY brushes and just 3D print a design I like and add brushes to it. So here we are. After redesigning the CNC dust shoe I wanted I installed this brush in it and mounted it up. Everything went pretty straight forward with no real issues. I like that the bristles on this are soft and pliable so that as I’m making deep cuts they’ll give way and not prevent the carriage Z travel. I’ve used really stiff brushes before and the deeper I went the more resistance they applied on the Z travel and my Nema 23 Z access could struggle when I’m cutting metal. I’d find I had cuts not quite at full depth, say .1 to .3mm short. The overall depth of the bristles was also spot on for me coming in at exactly 70mm. A couple minor things I liked less about this brush was the inconsistency in the webbing that holds the bristles together. Some spots were thicker than others making the insertion into my dust shoe more challenging. Also some parts were unraveling and letting bristles fall out. I needed to hit them real fast with a lighter to triage some spots. All in all they do the job and there is plenty in here for me to make alternate dust shoe units, adjusting the bristle length to suit the needs of the bit I’m using. ... show more

This is well crafted brush material with densely populated bristles. I got this to help add dust collection to my contractor saw which had none to begin with. I had to cover the tilt handle area as well as the motor mount.
