I had several blemishes on the finish. It looked like they painted the blemishes from the factory. I built the first one (I ordered 4) and left it on the covered carport for a couple of weeks. The bottom swelled. The paint came off from the bottom. Theses are not durable for any time left outside even covered and out of the weather. One of them out of the four will not lock properly and is kind of shaky. I installed the back cardboard piece and it firmed it up some but it is not sturdy like the other 3. The size is great. Putting together is not that hard. There are no ikeas local to me and shipping was extremely expensive for that brand so I decided to try these. They do stack good. They are flush when stacked. I do not recommend for outside use even for short amount of time. As in, don't put them together outside and then bring them inside. It will ruin them. The finish is extremely easy to scratch so be mindful of that. Also never let any liquid in contact with them. Such as wry Mop or drinks on top. This is particle board so the wood will swell and separate. As far as size, they are perfect. I have four that will be side by side and 2 on top. I can hide the defective part on the one that was outside under the carport for 2 weeks. I also purchased the expensive box Liner fold outs and they fit perfectly and will also prevent seeing any of the defects. Overall it is a decent product I just wish they were more durable. I purchased the white ones. The two in the picture are the ones that I built inside the house. They were not exposed to outside. There were slight flaws, such as paint touch ups done from the factory. But overall they will serve the intended purpose of creating more storage and helping me to be organized. ... show more

I absolutely love this unit. I've been searching everywhere for a long time for a shelving unit to house my album collection, 480+. Finding the right dimensions was not a fluke. I was specific in my search. What wasn't specific was the color. I'm amazed at how well it matches my new flooring. I ordered 2, and they arrived on time and very well packaged. Heavy. I was 100% thrilled by the time I got it put together by myself. I didn't give it a 5 star for two reasons. First, assembly was going well until the last major step. It was really, really difficult to align 16 posts simultaneously, which is a must. Almost gave up. Because of that, it took me about an hour to fully assemble. Second, there are large mysterious markings on the panels. They look awful. And disappointingly, there are more than just a few. But in the end, I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Can't wait to get the 2nd one up. One unit will be long and adjacent to the other unit which will be tall. In other words, like an "L" shape. ... show more

Years ago I bought a 3x3 13" storage cube at Target. We moved and had a smaller bathroom so i wanted a 3×1 unit and stores no longer had 13" ones just 11". I bought one and all I can say is that 2"s makes a big difference. The 11" were built cheaper and the the back was in two pieces and didn't cover the whole back. So I moved that to the laundry room as there was exactly 12" of space between my washer and dryer. I ordered this as it seemed to be same construction as the old one I had. It's a bit of a pain to put together but its way better than the 11" in stores and holds alot more. I bought 13" fabric cubes off Amazon also which also are nicer / heavier than the ones I already had. ... show more

I bought two of these units despite reading the bad reviews. In my experience, those reviews were wrong. They are very stable. If they're not then the cam bolts aren't tightened enough. I'm 70 years old with a bad back & knees and still put it together by myself in about 45 minutes. These are just like all the other self assembly with dowels and cam bolts. These are nice size and each cabinet should hold almost half my albums. That means I'll have to fill each cube, so I'll see if they will bow under all the weight. Will update later. ... show more

    • Suggest strongly that TWO people assemble this, but it's a nice piece.

The two main reasons this got 4 stars instead of 5 are these: 1. It was NOT "easy" for one person to assemble this being that every time you had a dowel or two in place to secure each section, the whole thing would shimmy apart again. Very frustrating. A second person helping to hold it together while the other person pushes the pieces together is ideal. 2. There IS a backing that matches the wood pattern of the piece BUT.... it's only for show and made of flimsy cardboard. Just blowing on it, now assembled, makes the backing wobble. Our concern is if it bulges or warps, it could cause it to bulge so far away from the main piece that it will look cheesy. We would have much rather preferred a thin piece of particle board to adhere more securely to the back of it. We're probably going to secure the cardboard - with great care - to the horizontal pieces of the organizer in hopes that it will be better secured and less likely to bulge. Cardboard al most never keeps its original shape unless pressed against a glass frame etc. This has nothing to press against except on each far side. *The color is as shown - very pretty aesthetically. We like the weathered gray look. *It stands up well either vertically or horizontally. We chose the horizontal position for safety reasons and how it fits in with our décor. *It's holding a good number of books in 4 of the 6 cubicles - some books are heavy - I corned the books in the cubicles so the whole piece was well balanced though. * It arrived quickly and in good shape. The instructions are easy to follow. But the fixture itself is not too stable. I've made these before and have gotten great results. Im less than thrilled with this. Even with the backing on it, its not perfectly stable. I installed some small corner brackets in the top and bottom corners and that seems to have helped make it more sturdy. The color is great.
