I really enjoy products by Clarins and was excited to try this extra firming night cream. As always, the packaging is exquisite. The color of the packaging is beautiful and the glass jar is pretty. I note that it is refillable so I am pleased to be able to continue to use it. As with all new face products, I gently wash my face and dry it so I isolate the effect of the new product. I opened the package for the first time and noted how thick and rich the cream is when you glide it on. I put a dab on my forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, and neck and gently massaged it in. A little dab goes a long way and this as a thick cream. It has a really light pleasant scent, and you can feel the moisture on your skin. I massaged mine in for a while and then it simply absorbed in and my skin drank the hydration it needed. I had noted that I had a little bit of redness to my face before I moisturized. After I put this cream on, my skin seemed to tighten and to even out the coloring. I can tell that this cream really works with my particular sensitive skin and it looked uplifted and hydrated and more youthful. Since this is a night cream, I wanted to check it in the morning to see how it affected my skin. I typically use a moisturizer and thus I'm used to the effects it provides. This cream actually made my face look more refreshed. It looked a bit more even and toned. I noticed the fine lines were just slightly less noticeable. I have super dry, sensitive, and red skin, finding the right cream that actually soothes and hydrates without causing flare ups is tough for me. This cream is a very rich and cushiony formula. Even though the cream itself is on the thicker side, it still absorbs very well. It melts effortlessly into my skin rather than just sitting on the surface of my skin. The shea butter and avocado peptides make this very very moisturizing. It leaves my skin feeling velvety without any greasiness or sticky feeling. When I wake up in the morning, I notice that my face is noticeably more plump, rested, and smoother. I have definitely noticed that it helps calm down my redness and ends up leaving an even radiant tone in the morning when I wake up. One downside, however, is that the jar and the packaging look pretty big from the outside of the box before you open it, but the moment you open it, you realize that the actual product sits inside a smaller tin encased in a large transparent rim. The way they packaged this cream is completely deceptive and makes you think you are getting significantly more cream than you actually are, which is why I am taking off 1 star. ... show more

I have used Clarins products (multiple moisturizer lines and foundations and mascaras) for more than 10 years. The Extra-Firming line of moisturizers has been my favorite for nearly 8 of those years, and they have worked well for my sensitive, dry, aging skin. Don't let the light weight of the product fool you...this moisturizer is very good. The scent is herbal and is more or less the scent of this Extra-Firming line. I find it very pleasant and I am sensitive to strong smells. My only complaints (and why I deducted nearly half a star) are around the new jar design. There is no inner cover over the opening, which will cause the product to dry out more quickly. There also is a technique that one has to learn to get the jar closed back properly. Note that the little plastic tubs inside the glass jar have a tab on one side. The tab has to rest perfectly in a groove on the side of the jar in order for the jar lid to screw on properly. There also is a flimsy tape on one side of the outer jar that is the safety tape (previously, there was plastic around the lid to prevent it from opening. Other than the jar/refillable container redesign, the product is great. The moisturizer is neither too thick nor too thin. It absorbs quickly into the skin, not leaving a buildup. It works very well after using Clarins toners (toner before night moisture helps with overall results). My skin looks refreshed and bright after using, and this product keeps it looking great. Review for Clarins Extra-Firming Night Moisturizer I needed a night moisturizer, and as a Clarins Extra-Firming user, was thrilled to find out the newest version was reformulated and also is now refillable. What’s different about this blend is the [COLLAGEN]³ tech made of organic mitracarpus extract, organic pecan extract and collagen polypeptide, plus, avocado peptides, glycerin, shea butter and niacinamide as active ingredients to help with collagen and provide a more radiant complexion. The Extra-Firming Night formula is a low to medium weight white colored gel cream. Applying it feels lovely and its easy to smooth. The moisturizer absorbs after about 15 minutes and layers really well with targeted skincare products. The scent of this cream is gorgeous, a Clarins signature feature and adds to a feeling of luxury. After a couple of weeks use my skin is fresh, more firm, the dark circles seem reduced and the fine lines are less noticeable. I haven’t replaced a refill pod yet but according to instructions on the box, it seems like the old pod pops out & a new one goes right into the glass jar. 50ml/1.7 fl. oz. Refillable double walled pod and glass jar protects product from UV & air damage. Safety seal sticker on the lid assures purity. Made in France.
