  • Good KVM, except for the beep!
Style: USB3 2x2 HDMI 4K 60Hz
Generally, I'm happy with the CKL 922HUA-3 and it works pretty well for an affordable KVM. Every now and then when I switch devices my monitor will flash off and on but it usually stops if I switch the KVM off and back on. The only major issue I hope they fix in future versions is the ear-piercing beep when you switch devices. The beep can be disabled by pressing the hot key button on the front of the KVM (so the green light is on), then pressing the right control button on your keyboard twice, then b, then enter. If it works the KVM will confirm with a beep. I had trouble getting it to work on my usual keyboard however because I use a condensed board without the number pad and enter button on the right. I think my enter button is technically the "return" button as the computer sees it. I had to switch to a full size keyboard to get it to work. Really they should have the beep controlled by a physical switch on the KVM and do away with all the hot button nonsense. ... show more

  • 3 years starting to fail
Style: USB2 2x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
Worked fine for a couple of years, other than making monitors blink on & off in power save. Limited 4K support, not really suitable. Note that few computers have 2 HDMI outs, so you'll need a DP > HDMI cable for the second port on each. Monitors need an HDMI, or converting back to DP requires an active cable. Around a year ago, first one, then the other indicator LED on the wired remote died. Now after exactly three years, it's showing signs of instability on the USBs, gaming keyboard that had been working suddenly flaked out, still works fine connected directly. Time to replace. ... show more

  • Comes with very nice cable, BUT....
Style: USB3 4x2 HDMI 4K 60Hz
For a few hundred bucks I expected something pretty good. I guess that's what this is. I had a single HDMI 4-port KVM that worked great, but now I need a dual monitor version, so I got a different (less expensive) one that signaled the PCs that the monitors were disconnected when I switched to a different machine, so every time I switched back, I had to move some windows back onto the 2nd monitor. This one works fine in that respect (the windows stay put, when switching between machines, and back). It has a quality feel to it as well. But, now the bad: The tiny tiny manual is very poorly written. It took a long time, but I did get a response from the mfg support, because the audio jack wasn't working. TO save someone the time, here's what they said: "This model only support decoded HDMI audio, pls set hdmi audio or monitor A audio as default in the sound settings." Fortunately one of my monitors has very tiny speakers (and they're so weak they have to be turned up all the way to hear them working). BUT I swapped that one to the Monitor A connector, and now the jack works (and so does the decent speaker setup I have connected to it- and it sounds fine, not noisy or distorted). Good thing it has a switch to disable keyboard shortcuts, because when they were enabled (the default) my mouse and keyboard were virtually useless. I really mean useless. Support tells me there no way to update the firmware. That's kinda' pathetic considering that it has four USB computer inputs, and bootloaders are not novel. Also, regarding keyboard and mouse, if you put a PC to sleep, and don't switch away from it with this KVM- the mouse or keyboard will awaken it, as normal. But if you switch away, then switch back- the keyboard and mouse will not wake it. Sometimes unplugging, then re-plugging them works, but most of the time it doesn't. It's aggravating, especially since there's no apparent way to update the firmware (which ordinarily might be able to fix this issue). Also, it has rubber feet. There's no way to mount it vertically. I stuck some velcro on the bottom, but had to pull it off to re-align it. It pulled the regulatory stickers off with it. The feet keep the velcro from making great contact, but it hasn't fallen down in the couple 10 days since I installed it. ... show more

  • A good DVM solution for using Dual Monitors among 4 PCs.
Style: USB2 4x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
My old 4-Port MiniView™ Extreme Multimedia KVMP Switch did a good job of supporting 4 PCs, although it was designed for a single VGA (now legacy) monitor connector. To modernize my workstation, I bought a pair of 32" 4K LG monitors which (like most modern monitors) had HTML and Dataport connectors (No VGA or DVI ports). I found out that most (all?) 4K monitors do not support legacy VGA (so using VGA <=> HDMI adapter was out), so I had to replace my KVMP Switch. Since I wanted dual monitor with USB support between my 4 PCs, I found that the CKL HDMI KVM Switch 4 Port Dual Monitor Extended Display would fit my needs. In my search I found that most KVMs support only a single monitor and many still used VGA connectors. Narrowing my search to those that supported HDMI connectors (and USB) only the CKL model came with the dual monitor (Note none of the KVMs at the time I searched a year ago had DataPort connectors). As an alternative to the CKL, I considered if using two KVMs would suffice (a very basic model for just switching the second monitor and one that would also handle USB/Sound switching) but the cost of such setups were close to the same price point as the CKL model. I was hesitant about the CKL model because of the not insignificant amount of reviews that stated quality issues with the KVM not working only after a few months and the reports of USB issues, especially around the mouse/keyboard. I decided that my needs/wants outweighed the reported negatives, so I purchased the unit. For the most part the CKL HDMI KVM Switch 4 Port Dual Monitor Extended Display (CKL-942HUA) worked. However after about 5 months, I too experienced the mouse/keyboard issue as reported by others. This was mitigated by connecting the mouse and keyboard to a powered USB switch which I used for other external devices (webcams, external HDD, USB cables for connecting with a phone). A month ago, due to the mouse wearing out, I replaced it with a new 'gamer' mouse. I tried hooking that (and the keyboard) with the KVM, and it all worked again. So far no issues now that it's been almost a year since I bought the LG monitors and KVM. Note - this is not the KVMs issue, but for anyone with similar needs/wants they need to consider that many video cards/Motherboards on older computers have only the older VGA/DVI ports, maybe a HDMI port... so I found I needed to add/change out a several video cards that sported two HDMI and/or DataPort connectors and purchase some HDMI <=> DataPort adapters to achieve the desired dual monitor support with all my PCs. ... show more
