Going deeper into history of the original version of this diving watch, it was used by the Italian Navy and released in 1989 for the new generation of dive watch enthusiasts. A design element that stands out is the distinctive, serrated bezel design that was inspired by a fugu, the Japanese name for pufferfish. Featuring a 3-piece, 44mm case, sapphire crystal, and a silver-tone stainless steel case and bracelet, the black rotating bezel with an easy-grip aluminium ring surrounds the white dial and luminous hands and markers, while the case back features an engraving of a pufferfish. This advanced automatic watch features a circa 42 hour power reserve, is ISO compliant with a screw-down crown and water resistance to 200 metres. Presented in an exclusive collector’s dive tank style box.

I chose this watch because it had a classic almost retro look with the white face and black bezel. As most watches do, it looks better in person than on the on-line. I think the watch is a perfect size at 44mm - it stands out, is easy to read, but not over the top large and comfortable to wear. Consistent with another review I read, the hands and markers are not as highly contrasted as in the photo, and in certain low light can be challenging to read the time. I don't have experience with Citizen automatic watches, but if they are as reliable as my Eco-drive watches I am confident I'll be satisfied with this watch over the long haul. I recently added this Citizen dive watch to my collection, which includes several Citizen and Seiko models. First impressions: it’s a good-looking watch, but the visibility could be improved. The hour and minute hands are silver against a white dial, which makes them harder to see. A different color for the hands would have been better. Another feature that I found a bit off-putting is the crown being on the left side instead of the right. This design choice seems unnecessary to me. The watch is also lighter than I expected. As an owner of several Citizen and Seiko dive watches, this is by far the lightest. While some might prefer a lighter watch, I tend to favor a heavier feel. On the positive side, timekeeping is excellent, and the crown movements to adjust the date and day are smooth. Overall, it’s a decent buy. However, the product does differ slightly from the pictures. The dial is whiter and brighter, with less contrast on the markings and the hour and minute hands. ... show more
