I love contrast paints. They're a bit pricey, but they are fantastic for speed painting.

Do not panic when this paint arrives at your house and looks MUCH darker than the display photo! The display photo shows a light brown color (to simulate a thin single coat) but the paint pot is actually a VERY dark brown. Wait! Try it out and you'll see the paint comes out much lighter (thin coat) than the color in the pot. I almost made the mistake of requesting a return upon seeing the dark brown paint pot, but it IS actually correct. It's a wonderful paint, imo, and probably the best among GW contrast paints. For anyone who has never used GW Citadel contrast paints, they work very differently from most regular acrylic paints. This will NOT replace a brown paint of the same shade, but is very useful in other ways. Contrast paints are MUCH thinner than typical acrylic paint, like a mix of a paint and a wash, but with extra pigment added. Just one thin layer will produce a vibrant, slightly translucent color. Applying a bit more will darken cracks and folds like a wash will. It can be difficult to produce a uniformly even color over large areas with contrast paints. So if you were painting a large, smooth cloak on a 100mm model this would be a poor choice. But where these contrast paints really shine is painting smaller, detailed areas. They can also save time for batch painting, if you don't wanna spend hours highlighting/shading, washing,etc. big groups of minis, but you still want them to look good. For example, if you like painting armies of stuff like Warhammer, contrast paints would be perfect since they add a bit of detail/contrast like washes do. After doing some research on contrast paints, I found that this particular color (Snakebite Leather) is considered by many painters to be one of the best and most useful among all contrast paints. After using it, I can see why. The unique nature of GW contrast paints really does simulate leather well. Want a darker leather? Just apply another coat. I would recommend buying this paint FIRST if you are considering getting into contrast paints, as this color is probably the most useful among them all. Think about how common brown is on miniatures, right? You can produce several shades of brown (with a leather effect) with this paint by applying multiple coats. Unlike some of my other contrast paints, I WILL buy this one again when it runs out as it's extremely useful. If you don't have this, give it a try. You may have to wait a bit for shipping, as it's often out of stock due to popularity.
