This may sound totally corny, but as I get older, my rear end gets more sensitive to the lack of comfort found in my bicycle seat. The padding in these shorts pretty much blows away any bicycle shorts I have. Yes, I will also use these for skateboarding and whatnot, but man, these shorts just made my bicycle seat feel COMFORTABLE. I may finish writing this and go for a ride. The only thing I'm not keen on is "hand wash only". I don't know how long I'll actually obey that. The "gentle" cycle on my washing machine doesn't get near enough use. But seriously, if you want the longest life from these, you're scrubbing em by hand. In fact, the "hand wash only" is the only reason I deducted a star. Certainly something can be done to make these machine washable, even if I have to drip dry them. The comfort is very nice, the wide velcro helps cinch in my slightly too large gut without feeling restricted...and they seem well made. Course I gotta put some miles on em first, but the initial impression is good. If you need cycling shorts, and regular cycling shorts don't seem to have enough padding in the back for you, consider these. Other folks, skateboarders, snowboarders, ect, these are also for you, too. But I really think these have a market with the cycling community...especially with the "over 40" crowd. 4 stars...these are a good buy. ... show more

    • Ready to ride the double black, to protect my A** on downhill Mountain Bike Trails!

Wow! When I opened the package and saw these for the first time, I was pretty happy with them. Then when trying them on.... well, honestly, I felt a bit weird. So then I put some baggy jeans over the top and I did not feel so self conscious of how they looked. I imagine them to feel kinda like a diaper, not that I ever remember wearing them, years and years ago! I ride downhill MTB trails and have wiped out more than I care to share. So I thought I would give these a try to help save my A** when crashing. They do feel a bit odd when pedaling, but it is worth the protection. Fortunately for me, I have yet to crash but when I do next I will come back and give an update on the results, lets hope for the best! ... show more

I have been looking for years for something to protect the Coccyx. I was really excited when I found these padded shorts. Not only do they have padding for the Coccyx, but also for hip pointers. I use the size chart to select the size which is true to form. I'm 6' and weigh 198 pounds and selected the XL which fits great. This should take the bite out of loosing my edge on ice and then landing posterior first on that ice. It is priced a bit higher than other brands, but much lower than the really expensive ones. ... show more
