  • A really nice machine.
Style: 7500-Watt + Dual Fuel + Electric Start
I had intended to review this unit before but must have forgotten. I ordered one in November of 2021. I also ordered a grounding rod and copper ground wire from Amazon at the same time. We do not go camping and we do not live in an area prone to hurricanes. However, we seem to have a multi-hour power interruptions every few months. Subdivision power is under ground but the power arrives at the subdivision entrance above ground. This is a heavy puppy, but the product was delivered by truck and the driver rolled it right into my garage so I could unpack it and attach the wheel kit. The frame includes a handle that allows you to lift the front of the unit and roll it using the rear wheels. I paid attention to the instruction manual and did everything that I was supposed to do. The unit needs a five hour break-in period to properly seat the bearings and seals. During the break-in period you are instructed to vary the power pull intermittently and I did just that by connecting several things via power cords. I also connected two hair dryers and would go out every few minutes to run them. I varied the power on the dryers and when you do that you can see the power consumption change on the indicator on the side of the unit. Hook up to a propane tank is really easy. I ran it some on propane and some on gas. Starting is a breeze with the electric start rocker switch. There is also a manual start option in case you forget to keep the battery charged. I changed the oil immediately after the break-in was completed. And as luck would have it, about four or five months after purchasing this machine and getting it ready for service, one of the underground trunk lines that supply power to our house broke (from corrosion). We had to have that fixed by the power company AND, if that wasn't enough, we also had to replace the power meter on the side of the house and have it all inspected before they would turn out power back on. Champion to the rescue. We were without power for two and a half days, but thanks to this excellent generator, we were able to stay in our house and we were able to run our refrigerator and a free standing freezer in the garage. Did not lose any food and did not have to run back and forth to the store to buy ice in a vain effort to keep existing food cold and/or frozen. Generator ran flawlessly during this time. An absolutely great machine. In fact, we have now taken this generator to a second home that we own on a local lake and I have just ordered a Champion Tri-Fuel generator (from Amazon, #100416) for my primary home so I can hook it up directly to my gas line when needed (runs on Gasoline, Propane or Natural Gas). ... show more

  • This thing is fantastic & runs our entire house.
Style: 7500-Watt + Dual Fuel + Electric Start
Delivery was exceptional right to the garage. Wired this myself (have never done this in my life) to the panel box directly. Bought a 75ft cord with the inlet box on Amazon for 150 bucks, the interlock kit for 27 also, & picked up the 10/3 wire for the main, 12/2 to relocate 2-20 amp breakers, & a 30 amp dbl pole breaker for a local electrical supply. All in was 929 bucks. Avg to install was about 1000+ so since I did it myself, it was basically free. I had ALL breakers powered on except the AC. Since you don't have to run everything at once, there should be no issues. The power hogs are hot water heater, AC, dryer & likely an oil furnace but I have no doubt this will handle it. IMO it's silly to put in a transfer box since wiring directly allows you to pick & choose what to run, & minimal costs to install. Love this thing & should have bought it sooner. I HIGHLY recommend watching a TON of Youtube videos if you want to save money & do it yourself. ... show more

  • Review after 100 hours of powering my house and fifth wheel.
Style: 7500-Watt + Gas + Electric Start
Camper: I used this generator for 70 hours powering my fifth wheel on vacation it powered the fridge lights and both rooftop a/c’s without a single issue and was averaging 11 hours on the 5.7 gallon tank of gas. It was also much quieter than my friends firman 8,000 watt generator. House: I’m a contractor and wired my whole house breaker panel to accept a 50 amp cord. *Do not attempt this at home I’m a licensed professional and added all safety protocols to protect back-feeding the power lines and killing a lineman*. I thought this generator would be great at powering my well pump, keeping my propane water heater lit, and my three fridge/freezers (my only real concern hot water and fridges)…… To my surprise it powers my WiFi router, alarm and security cameras, my led yard light, the microwave, the air fryer, 50” tv, the coffee pot, the sump pump, water softener, interior lights, fans, my 15 amp pool pump/filter, basement dehumidifier, and the CENTRAL A/C!! This is my second champion generator the other one is a ultra light, quiet and powerful 4,000 watt open frame inverter that powers all my job sites. I was so impressed with that gen set that I bought this one and seriously am blown away. I shut my a/c off and finished a load of laundry today in my electric dryer (just to be on the safe side to not overload the gen). It almost powers the whole house seamlessly, with a little common sense this will power the whole house and last a long time doing it. Not everything was turned on at the same exact time (duh) but a lot of those things were ran together and I never once blew any breakers on the house or gen set. Oh and it averages 9.5 hours on the house with 5.7 gallons of gas. CPE says an 8 hour run time that must be at max output. Buy it! ... show more

  • Does Okay / Good Purchase (so far)
Style: 7500-Watt + Dual Fuel + Electric Start
I was hesitant on ordering this, especially after seeing some horror stories on the condition some received their generators in (damaged in shipping, etc.). Amazon delivered it (2 young men) and placed the box exactly where we asked. I unboxed within 24 hours to ensure no damage existed...it was perfect. Assembly was straightforward and reasonably easy per Champion's instructions, too. We've run it a few times now, it fires right up and does exactly what we needed it to do. Our home is pre-wired for a generator, but only a portion of the home. It works well for our use though with plenty of wattage room to spare at a reasonable fuel consumption. We have both propane & non-ethanol gas available, primarily we use propane as we have a bulk tank and regular on site fill service. It's noisy & heavy, but we expected that and where it sits (when in use) is not bothersome to anyone in the home. So far it's a 5 star for us. ... show more
