Oh Champion, you used to make such great sweats, but you lost your way, trading on your good reputation while cutting every corner, in search of ever-increasing profits no doubt. Alas! Before I go further, please note the date of this review, because I've noticed reviews for clothing like this are never accurate for too long. The company may well start having these made in a different factory in a different county using different materials, and they may change in quality, size, fabric, etc. So be aware, all these reviews are ephemeral. THIS pair of sweats had only one good thing going for it, the fabric is 90% cotton, which is why I bought them. Everything else is crappy. The weight of the fabric I would describe as "medium", not heavy or particularly warm. The quality of the stitching looks unimpressive. The waistband is the worst, it is very thin and not very well elasticized, and if you need to draw in the cheap drawstring even a little, as I did, you will definitely feel the cord around your middle through the fabric. The sizing is indeed weird, as so many have noted. Everyone advised to try a size down, and I generally wear large, so I tried both medium and large. The medium fit OK in the waist but was too short by at least 2 inches (I'm 5' 10"). That left the large, which was a little too big in the waist but with HUGELY baggy legs and seat. The pockets are lined with white cloth, a pet peeve of mine, but at least they don't show, the way they do in some sweats. Finally, the hem at the bottom of the legs is loose and the stitching and elastic there looks just as bad as the waist. These seem about the same quality as you'd get in $10 sweats from the big "W" store, the only difference being the fabric is cotton. And they cost $30 bucks! At least $5-10 overpriced, I'd say. My quest for decent sweats under $40 will definitely continue.

These sweats are comfortable and thick with great shape! They aren't baggy and lifeless like most sweatpants. The elastic (both top & bottom) is perfectly stitched and adjusts to body shape. I can't comment on shrinkage because I only tumble dry on "low" for 10 minutes then hang-dry, but I have no doubt these sweats will last for many years. Sizing down is a MUST! My son is 6'5 and weighs 220lbs. He normally wears XL Tall or 2XL Tall, but these sweats run very big. The large size fit him best with more than enough room, and the length was just as good as "tall" sizing. I ended up purchasing a pair in every color!

I'm 5'2'' 110 lbs and I've been looking for the perfect sweatpants for awhile. I like the men's hanes, but they're so cheap looking. Too much polyester and they look worn way too fast. These, in an XS, are the perfect sweatpants for me. The waist actually fits me without having to tighten them at all. Every other pair I've bought have been so huge in the waist. And then I have to tighten the drawstring so much they just look ridiculous and feel uncomfortable. My waist is like 23 - 24'' for reference. They're a bit long on me, but that's perfect because I can pull them up high on my waist and they still fit baggy like I wanted. I can't say for sure how well these would fit a man's body, but the waist could stretch another 5'' at least.

Update a month later Washed in hot water and drying in dryer on hot cotton setting, did shrink enough and they now fit great, bought two more pair, once washed they don’t seem to shrink any further, 90% cotton is still very soft and it breathes unlike polyester blends, ************************************************* Update a few days later Received the replacement pair in size XL . Still way to big for an XL compared To any other Champion Xl sweat pants, so I am hoping that since 90 % cotton and washing in hot water and drying on hot May shrink enough to fit better, Remember TO SIZE DOWN ************************************************** Nice quality but so huge, I am 6’4 and 210 lbs and normally wear Champion power blend sweat pants, which fit well after the first washing, However these cotton pants are SO big, they fit like a 4xl, they are 6 inches too long legs are so baggy if you pull them apart they measure about 36 inches, obviously would not fit a normal sized man, accordingly, I exchanged for an XL SIZE, which hopefully will fit better, I just can’t believe these pants in 2XL are this big, the elastic and diameter is so big at ankles elastic it would fit a 18 inch diameter ankle, size down st least one size, will update when I receive the XL replacements, nice that they are 90% cotton which is soft, breaths and feels so soft versus the 50/50 power blend pants that are 50% cotton and 50% polyester,

Excellent quality material (thick!) and excellent workmanship on the construction! Size is TOO large, but it did shrink when I washed it. Am hoping that it shrinks a bit more when I wash it again soon. But for me, the really bad part is that the elastic cuffs are what Champion calls "relaxed". This is not listed as a feature of these sweatpants. What "relaxed" means is "very loose" such that if you are walking barefoot your foot is drowning in the fleece material which you are actually walking on -- it is so "relaxed" that there might as well be no elastic sewn into the cuff at all!

These seem well made but when I bought them I had read that they are quite large so I bought a medium. I am 6'1" and 184 lbs and the mediums were way too big so I have returned them for a size small. If the small fits (I hope they are not too big) it will be the first time I wore a small size anything in 50 years. I will do another review when I get the small. Price is good and shipping great - return was easy too!
