I have used Cetaphil lotion on my hands/body for at least a decade, so I assumed I’d also love the bar soap. I don’t say it very often, but I was wrong. You know those Dove commercials where they compare their soap with “a leading competitor”? They often show the residual soap left on your body after rinsing. I’m certain they use Cetaphil for this— not only does it dry you out, but the dryness is coupled with this layer of “stuff” on your skin. It smells like a hospital. No one messes with my skin, and certainly not Nestle (yes, a candy company owns Cetaphil). Do not buy this unless you increase your Botox budget. ... show more

We like it more than its body wash counterpart. My bubby has horrible eczema. It’s gotten to the point where he finds the need to stay under the water to find a shower bearable due to the pain. He keeps me up at night with his scratching and draws blood because of how dry his skin is. So far, the soap hasn’t dried his skin out in the shower and suds up like he likes it. He says it feels like it actually cleans unlike the body wash version. He doesn’t like using the bar on his face because it still feels dry but it’s nothing compared to other bars and the wash version works perfect for that. I see a lot of people complain about the smell but I don’t think it smells bad. Just doesn't smell like “normal” soap. So far so good ... show more

Great soap for sensitive skin. After my tattoo the artist recommended I get this soap and location. At first the smell was a little off putting. But after a week I was used to it. Almost a “medical” or “hospital” type of smell. Worked great on my tattoo. I’ve since started using it as my daily soap. So far it’s been great. I used to use the pump version of Cetaphil for my face only. But the older I get, the dryer and more flaky my skin seems to get during the winters. It finally occurred to me, why not try using Cetaphil bar soap for my whole body in the shower as well? I'm not going to claim it's a total miracle cure for my dry skin, but I HAVE definitely seen some noticeable improvement! I read another review complaining about soap scum or residue left on their skin. I've certainly had NO problem with any issues like this! I love that this soap has almost no scent and it leaves my skin feeling smooth! I'm on my third bar and very happy. I still have to use some hand cream here and there, or some additional lotion on my legs occasionally, but my skin seems to actually absorb it now, where before my skin was so dehydrated my creams and lotions didn't even help. So, I would say since I started bathing with Cetaphil it has improved the overall condition of my skin! ... show more
