I could have sworn that the description said these were steel, but somehow they ended up being aluminum. They seem to be of high quality so once they are tested out I may change my rating. The lock is a little bit different than what I’m used to but they work fine. These are like 1/4 turn locks, and not the threaded permanently closed ones. ... show more

My brother and I were using a cherry picker to take a 85hp merc off his boat and mount a 75hp merc in it's place. We were using straps. He was afraid the hook might put undue stress on the straps. I had just received my carabineers. I said let's try one of these. There suppose to hold over 5000lbs. He was skeptical, i felt confident. The carabineer was solid and did the job very nicely.
