I’ve purchased CeraVe’s Acne Fighting Cream Cleanser with Benzoyl Perixide several times for myself & my teenage Son. I have acne prone skin I have under control but at times blackheads begin to appear on my nose. One night of applying this cleanser the next morning they’re barely visible! My Son has battled acne more widespread. This has been a heaven sent for him. He cleanses his face morning & night with this & it has made a HUGE difference with his acne.There’s not much battling anymore period. What was widespread is now minimal. The benzoyl peroxide truly kills any acne forming or acne that has formed on his face. His face is clearer now with little new acne forming. I knew this was a strong cleanser so we slowly introduced it to his skin. He has fairly sensitive skin so we began with once a day. Moisturizing right after is a DEFINITE! This tightens up your face which is then in need of a good moisturizer. CeraVe has 2 great moisturizers to combine with this cleanser. There is little scent to it. It comes out more watery vs. other cleansers. I/we let it sit for about 1 minute to let it truly to its job. Since this is a harsher facial ingredient I never mix it with a retinol. The 2 will create extreme dryness with irritation. I learned the hard way. A gentle moisturizer is best to use only after using this. I will use it at night only because I have a skin regime in the morning which wouldn’t allow me to use this. What I love about CeraVe’s product line is they come with the 3 essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid & niacinamide~2 wonderful ingredients for our skin. If you’re battling acne this cleanser is definitely worth purchasing. Be aware this will leave markings on colored wash cloths & towels~ due to the benzoyl peroxide. For all this offers the price is really amazing because this 5 ounce tube/bottle does have longevity to it because you don’t need much to cover your face. This doesn’t foam up. With a little water it’s more like a layer you apply to your skin. I see it more as a treatment for a female. This will not remove makeup ladies. I use CeraVe’s Hydrating Micellar Water to cleanse my face before using this. For my Son he can get away with just using this to cleanse his face. We both have gentle silicone scrubbers to help work it into our skin. I hope my personal experience helps you decide if this is for you. A trusting name with a specific purpose. This saved my skin after using it every night. I have combination, eczema prone, hormonal acne prone skin with a history of perioral dermatitis, and this is extremely gentle while preventing cystic breakouts. It leaves my skin balanced and never tight or squeaky clean. I think the ceramides and hyaluronic acid help with that. The peroxide is drying, so keep it away from your eyes and I don't use it more than once a day. I use it after removing sunscreen and makeup with micellar water on a warm cloth, and I spray on hypochlorous acid in the morning (my other two favorite products). I would love if they came out with a face wash identical to this, minus the benzoyl peroxide, so I could use it safely with retinoids and azelaic acid (for smoothing out the remaining scars and pigmentation.) (I was previously using Vanicream gentle cleanser for years, which I thought was benign, but contained mica, salt, and a film forming ingredient. It was ultimately irritating and did not clean well enough.) You can see my before and after photos. Keep in mind that that even though I still have some scarring and pigmentation, my skin is smooth and hydrated enough that I can put on glowy foundation and it looks seamless, as if I've never had acne. The scars will also fade with azelaic acid/sunscreen/tretinoin. I took those photos in direct, harsh, unflattering sunlight, no makeup on the skin, except for one after photo, where I had on mascara and a chalky sunscreen. ... show more

This product was recommended by our dermatologist for my teen son who struggles with acne. It’s been helping a lot, not too drying. Non-greasy, gentle however effective with the active ingredient working really well for acne prone skin. I only give it four stars because it is pricey and would love to see it not cost so much however, it’s a great product that I will continue to buy. ... show more

    • The only thing that has really worked for me (as someone who has battled with acne for years)
I love this product and I cannot live without it. This face wash is super gentle (I am saying that as someone who has broken out after using many other facewashes in the past), and I love the way it feels on my skin (it makes me feel fresh and clean!). The cream doesn't have much of a smell (just kind of smells like cream, if that makes sense). After using this for the past five months, my skin has never looked better! I try to keep my skincare to a minimum, but this has become an essential part of my routine. I have struggled with acne for years, and it is hard to find that one product that ends up working for you, but this one was it for me. I use it every night after I take off my makeup. I apply a small drop to each part of my face, scrub it all around, and rinse with warm water. Then I put on a retinal cream and moisturizer. This routine has kept me close to acne free for the past five months. I also want to say that I was surprised by the amount of product you get for the price. I am so used to expensive acne products that only last a month or two, but I have been using this for five months and have barely made a dent in the bottle.     • i bought this for odor issues, seems to work nicely
so i heard from an actual dermatologist on social media that she heard people with odor from their armpits were using alcohol to disinfect the area, and that it worked as intended. but she replies that alcohol can be extremely drying to the area since the armpit has thin skin. she recommended to her patients, family as well as her using it herself, to use a benzyl peroxide wash to disinfect the area making it smell fresher and cleaner as well being more gentle on skin, and she recommended CeraVe's acne foaming cleanser with 4% benzyl peroxide to achieve this. i used it only on my armpits, once, i rubbed it on in the shower and let it sit for 30-60 seconds as recommended before washing off, and after coming out of the showering and drying myself the odor from my arm pits was gone, and it stayed that way for about a week, when my pits started smelling just a bit odorous again, but definitely not as bad as before. so this worked so well, that i started using this on other trouble areas that i have or suspected odor in, such as my bottom and feet area, and i'd like to think those areas smell fresh and clean now. i would recommend only using this product once a week if you're targeting odor, as i do find that it can dry out the area, and perhaps follow up after using the wash with some sort of moisturizer to keep the area looking plump and healthy. i think i'll be using this on my face next to be able to get a very thorough deep clean. i can recommend this product. ... show more
