Very satisfied with the results on my running boards

OK, this is going to be a lengthy review to explain my experience with this product. I have a 2015 Chevy Tahoe that I have kept in pristine condition with one exception. This model year of Tahoe was equipped with some type of plastic running boards that were not black but a dark charcoal gray. These running boards are notorious for fading and staining within the first couple of years. The worst stains are milky white splotches that appear beneath the door jambs. There are various theories as to what causes these splotches on the internet discussion forums and my own is that some substance applied at the factory to the door latches gradually leached out and drained onto the running boards during heavy rains. No amount of scrubbing with various cleaners would remove these spots. In my case, I also had numerous unknown dark oily looking spots in areas of the running boards. So by year 3 of ownership, my running boards were chalky faded gray with milky white and dark spots. I've tried several plastic restoring / conditioning products over the years and settled on 303 protectant which made them look better by restoring a matte sheen but the running boards were still unsightly compared to the condition of the rest of the vehicle and the product had to be reapplied after each car wash. I saw an ad for Cerakote Ceramic Trim Coat and decided to give it a try. I prepped by scrubbing the running boards with Dawn dish soap and a scrubbing pad and let dry for a couple days. I then applied the Trim Coat per the instructions, proceeding slowly down the running boards working on about an 18" area at a time before moving on. I applied it liberally in a circular motion, being careful to work it into the grooves and raised details of the running boards and then back brushed with the towelette in straight even strokes. I used one towelette for each running board and they still contained a fair amount of product when finished. I didn't have any issues with puddling, streaking, or uneven drying. I let it dry for 24 hrs. and then inspected the results. The running boards looked better than they had since they first began to fade and stain 8-9 years ago. They now have a consistent dark gray color and nice even matte sheen with a hard slick surface The dark spotted stains are barely noticeable due to the overall dark matte color that was restored to the running boards. The only disappointment was the product did nothing for the milky spots and I probably shouldn't be surprised by that. In hindsight, I should have blended these spots in with a dark gray dye marker before applying the product. If and when this product wears off, I will do that before applying again. So if you are going to restore trim with similar light colored stains, be advised that you need to address this before applying this product. Also, be sure you have prepared the surfaces properly and that you actually want the surfaces to be treated with this product, as per the manufacturer's FAQ, it is quite a difficult process to remove after it has cured. All in all, I am very satisfied with this purchase and the results.

Better results than promised. VERY happy, easy to apply

This is an amazing product. I have used it on both of our cars They both have black and dark gray trim that faded to mid to light gray. After the application, the trim looks like factory black/dark gray. We purchased the 1st used car almost 2 years ago & the application has held up well for 18 months in Florida Sun, never garaged. The other car (used, 5 years old) was purchased about 4 months ago & even the dealer was shocked at how good it looked after application. Both cars have gone through dozens of car washes since application.. I would recommend storing the wipes in the house in AC, not in garage. They are pretty well sealed, but the first ones I got did get partly dried out after about a year in the garage. The wipes make it easy to apply. First application, you may need to use multiple wipes depending on how faded your trim is. I purchased these as back-up. Re-application is not necessary net, but I don't want to chance on not finding them when I do need them.

Perfect results on a Camry and a Buick—simple prep is the secret!

I have tried countless trim restorers over the years, and most of them are just greasy gels or sprays that wash away the first time it rains. This Cerakote Ceramic Trim Coat is a completely different story. I used this kit on two completely different vehicles: my 2023 Camry SE and my son's 2020 Buick Encore. The instructions say to make sure the trim is clean, so my only prep work was washing all the plastic trim pieces with plain Dawn liquid soap. This is the absolute secret to success because it strips away any old wax, grease, or road dirt. I let the plastic dry 100% completely before opening up the product. The individual pre-saturated wipes make the application incredibly quick, simple, and satisfying. You literally just open a pack and wipe it on. It actually cures directly to the vehicle's plastic rather than just sitting on top of it. The finish it leaves behind looks completely brand new, deep, and clean without any sticky or oily residue to attract dust. It provides excellent UV protection to stop future fading, and knowing it is rated to last through 200+ washes gives me total confidence that this is a lasting solution, not a temporary quick fix. One kit had plenty of wipes to handle both vehicles. If you want professional results without a greasy mess, do your prep work right and get this kit!

Brings back the original look!

I used it on two different projects. First I used it on my 2018 vehicles and it brought the vinyl surfaces back to life. Also, I used it on the handles and locks on my vinyl fence and it did it a good job on them. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the pads are used up fairly quickly. I highly recommend.

Wow. Amazing product. I was skeptical at first, but it says it lasts like 200 washes or something, even if I got 20 washes out of it, the price is right. I applied this once, over my whole car. Around window trims, the roof rack, wiper housings, and they all look brand new. Took me 2 wipes to do the whole vehicle. A month later and a few washes, it still looks as good as the day I applied it. Made the dull grey plastic black and shiny again. Just be careful not to get it on your paint or windows, as it really stays on there and hard to get off. (It won't ruin paint or anything, but you can see the product on the paint)

Superb product

Did a Toyota Rave 4 that is 11 years old . It looks amazing . I took my time . When starting with a new pad it made little bubbles . I kept spreading it out until the bubbles disappeared . During application I checked backed periodically to see if there were streaks and went back over them . Worked great . Because it also protects I did the underside of the trim . I didn't do the back bumper as the bumper skin was recently replaced . It all matches . I had one and a half pads left so if your vehicle is any larger than a RAV4, you're definitely gonna need two boxes . My only complaint is that you need more gloves than what are provided. Go to a store and buy a box of gloves and I'm sure you'll use them for other things so buying them will not be a waste. If it helps, I use the restoration kit for my front headlights as well and it did an amazing job.

Amazing product... Really works better than I imagined

This is my 1st time using this product and was blown away on its outcomes.... I used this on the black plastic under my windshield wipers at the bottom of the windshield... It turned the faded black to dark black.... Really surprised it worked that well... . I will say, the initial wipe of the restore pad on the intended surface once taken out of the package is the most impacting... The longer you flip the pad and continue to wipe on plastic, the restoration effect diminishes.... . I Did have to use 4 packages to restore all the Plastic on my 2012 Toyota Avalon Limited... Including under the hood black plastic..but it was well worth it. . I Definitely will buy this product again....
