Description

Celestron Vibration Suppression Padsp>Wind, an unsteady tripod, or even an accidental bump can disturb your image quality. Keep your telescope still while observing with these sturdy pads. Simply place your tripod legs on top of the pads to absorb shock and stabilize your telescope. Celestron’s set of three Vibration Suppression Pads are manufactured using Sorbothane (available only in the USA) recognized worldwide as the ultimate material for attenuating shock, isolating vibration and damping noise. No synthetic rubber or polymer can dissipate energy as effectively. BEWARE OF CHEAPER KNOCK-OFFS USING LESS CAPABLE MATERIALS! Imitations use silicon which is low-cost, does not work well, and may melt in the sun. Similar materials used in China look and feel the same, but do not perform half as well as products using Sorbothane. Celestron 18778 AC Adapter (Black)Enjoy your telescope without batteries with this AC adapter! When using your telescope at home or near any wall outlet, you can enjoy hours of uninterrupted observing. Running your telescope off of AC power is hassle-free and much more reliable than other methods, especially in cool temperatures, when batteries can lose charge quickly. This 2 amp AC Adapter is compatible with the following Celestron computerized telescopes: LCM Series NexStar SLT Series NexStar SE Series SkyProdigy Series Advanced Series Advanced VX Series CPC Series CPC Deluxe HD Series CPC Deluxe HD Series—This adapter is sufficient for most visual observing with a balanced telescope. However, for astroimaging using additional equipment, the 5 amp adapter (product 18780) is recommended.

  • Worked as advertized
Style: Pad
I used these pads to support a tripod which was mounted with a camera operating at very high zoom (where vibration can affect the recording quality). Our team actually performed vibrational analysis of before-and-after performance of the pad additions. The pads DO reduce vibration in the middle range of the frequencies that plague us. So, the pads are helpful, but not a miracle, for my particular application. But I didn't not expect more than that. ... show more

  • Very high price
Style: Pad
It helps, but in higher magnifications it doesn't work well.

  • Absolute necessity
Style: Pad
I purchased this item for my Celestron Nexstar 8SE, and I have been using it ever since. The pads are an absolute necessity for any viewing; they reduced the vibration time from more than 5 seconds to less than 5 oscillations. Without the pads, it was difficult to use the scope, as a light touch caused vibrations that made even focusing difficult. There is a night-and-day difference with these pads. The only reason that I gave these pads less than 5 stars is the cost... similar products, under a non-Celestron name, could be purchased for a much cheaper price. ... show more

  • Low cost vibrational stabilization

These are must haves for astrophotography.

Style: Pad
I'm a huge skeptic of what appear to be worthless accessories, or at least items which make very marginal gains. Well... These things work... really well. My scope is mounted on a Celestron CGEM DX, and I've gotten to pretty well know how much instability is associated with the use of this mount. I know how much the image will shake and how long based on the eyepiece I use, the rate of slew I use and how hard I bump the eyepiece from routine viewing with this particular mount. The first night of use and I couldn't believe how well these things absorb vibrations from mount manipulation. It literally felt like I upgraded mounts. The concrete pad where my telescope is placed is rock solid and doesn't suffer from vibrations, even if you start jumping around, I mainly purchased these to save my tripod legs from wear but these things keep vibrations from reciprocating back to the telescope during slewing, viewing, and photography. It's rare for me to praise a product as I usually have lofty expectations, but for forty bucks it's well worth it. ... show more

  • These work well
Style: Pad
Using this does make a difference, while won't stop all vibration reduces it somewhat. Well worth buying.

  • Definitely a great purchase!
Style: Pad
Purchased these for our Star Sense Explorer 80 MM and use them for our Nexstar 8 SE as well. Doesn't completely cut out the vibration but about a 90% improvement! Without them, the slightest bump or the changing of the eyepiece would send the object being viewed bouncing but with these it has made the movement very subtle and stops after a second or two. Definitely worth the money! Been using them for months, in the heat and now the cold...and no issues to report. ... show more

  • Great little addition to my collection.
Style: Pad
I have only used these a few times since I got them and they do make a difference especially with astro photography with my 8se. My ground that I use the scope on is either in my front yard or a state forest a few miles away and I can tell you with the amount I bump into my scope with my hands this definitely stops the image from shaking. I literally jumped up and down next to my scope and the image did not rattle. I can see this might nor work with every scope as I did try with a lighter 4 inch scope and I did notice jitter but the heaver the scope I think this will work better. Also you have to follow the directions where at least one of the bottom bumps needs to point inwards toward the center of the tripod and thus leaving the two other bumps on the outside giving the stability. ... show more
