  • Much more convenient and powerful than the lead-acid battery Power Tank.
I bought this battery to replace the Celestron Power Tank that I had for over 10 years. That model used a lead acid battery, and it had two USB ports, along with a very bright LED flashlight. Unfortunately, it quit holding a charge. I decided to buy this model because it is smaller, more convenient, and it holds a charge far longer than the previous model. In a recent trip to Joshua Tree National Park to observe the Milky Way, I used this Power Tank to power my telescope, and it performed flawlessly. In fact, I had forgotten to charge it the first night, and it still had plenty of juice leftover for the second night. I highly recommend it. I hope this review helps. ... show more

  • A very reliable CELESTRON battery pack to carry for your telescope.
This is a must have for your evening of viewing the sky. The battery pack is easy to carry and attach to your scope. This lasts many hours. The level indicators are easy to see and the charging time is quick. The value of this is first the price and no more buying AAA batteries that do not last. When you are in the night you want power to light the scope. ... show more

  • Excellent Power Source
This proved to be an excellent power source for my Celestron NexStar 8SE. My bulky old power tank (the one that looked like a small suitcase) was no longer holding a charge, so I decided to just go with the 8 AA batteries. Had problems getting the scope aligned, tracking, slewing etc. Apparently it didn't take long for the batteries to lose enough power to start causing problems. Decided to give this thing a try. What a difference! My scope is now operating perfectly. I haven't had this thing long enough to tell you how long it lasts, but I have used it for several nights now without recharging. (Admittedly, I don't stay out more than an hour or so in the winter.) A nice feature: It has indicator lights to let you know the level of charge. In order to avoid cord wrap issues, I velcroed it to the top of the battery compartment. This works great MOST of the time. But in this position, it is thick enough that it can interfere with the scope slewing to an object high in the sky. (Easily remedied by temporarily removing it to the tray below. Just be careful of cord wrap.) Anyway... I am very happy with this product so far, and greatly relieved that my expensive scope is now operating as it should! ... show more

  • Decent capacity. Awkward strap
Works well. It can power a Skywatcher Wave 100i mount for as long as I can keep my eyes open for a night's stargazing. Regulated output is a plus. But the mounting strap needs to be longer and able to engage along it's full length.

  • Good performance
Once I used this power bank for 4 hours-relocating my AVX Go-to a lot because of some troubleshooting. More you relocate between celestial objects, more power consumed by the worm-gear. After 4 hours, only 1 LED bar went off! It means that the charge capacity is large enough to let you mess with your Goto for many hours-perhaps just overnight. I'm not sure which lithium battery it uses yet (if it's a low-quality battery, I will see the 'memory effect' quite quickly) For that, I'll keep observing. Experience until now, it worth spending my money. Side note: If you use AVX or other star-tracking solution, I do recommend checking out the firmware update. You will notice how the worm-gear sounds differently, after the update. As for my AVX+Nexstar Goto, there must have been quite an improvement after the firmware update. ... show more

  • Much better than expected.
I regularly use lithium charging packs, so was expecting this to be similar. It’s not. It’s much beefier/bigger. It is powering a Celestron motorized telescope and since December 25, 2024 until January 17, it’s still at 3 of 4 bars charged on its initial charge. We’ve used the telescope regularly (the new hasn’t worn off yet), and have left it on tracking the moon or planets for hours. It’s well worth the money compared to installing and replacing batteries on the tele. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great battery!!
I needed a power supply for my Celestron Nexstar 5SE. I thought about getting something with more utility outside of powering a telescope, but decided that I should keep it simple. Plus this has a USB port, which is the most you can ask for without spending $200+ and hours researching trying to find the best battery. I charged it to 100% when I got it about 2-3 months ago. Sadly, it has been extremely cloudy for most of that time and I haven’t been able to use my scope very much. From the time that I’ve had it, this battery has probably been used for 10-12 hours. I just checked it, and I still have 3/4 of the battery indicator lights on! I may have charged it for a minute a while back, I can’t remember. But I’ve used it for hours at a time and never came close to running out of power. Honestly, I think it’s impossible to run out of juice in one night. Great product!! My ONLY gripe is with the strap. It’s too big for the tripod!! It slides down easily. It’s a problem that can be solved, but I don’t see why Celestron would make a strap that doesn’t work with its tripod. ... show more
