I tried the manual model and I just couldn’t make it work. I had a craft in mind and I really wanted to make cord for it but knew it wouldn’t happen with out mechanized intervention. It took me a little bit to sort out the threading set up but I finally found the right reviewer on you tube that showed it slowly step by step and it clicked for me. The biggest tip after that is to not be afraid to pull the starting cord with good tight tension until the cord comes though to get caught in the rollers. Truly. A set it and forget it process and even if I only use it a few times a year. Worth the price. Every time.

If you’re looking for a knitting machine that’s beginner-friendly yet performs reliably, this is an excellent choice. I bought this product because the manual/crank type is challenging to use for knitting entire skeins due to twisting. Right out of the box, this knitter is great. It feels substantial. The directions are clear. I knitted 6 skeins the first day. Fingering weight and worsted weight. Each weight of yarn knitted easily and relatively quickly. A 50 gram skein, at the lowest speed, took 30 minutes to knit. A 100 gram skein of worsted took about the same time at the middle speed. All the i-cords were evenly knit. I am very happy we ith this product. It has already saved me the headache of sorting out twisted, tangled i-cords. As I am crocheting these I-cords into other projects, having this efficient machine is a delight.

Works well, just very awkward to start wrapping needle hooks. I understand that the spinning clear plastic helps keep the I cord from twisting, it just makes it hard to start by blocking the hooks. Once it goes, it works very well. Now I’m sorry I wasted my money on the original, I didn’t have it very long and then this one is out. And this one is so expensive, it would have been nice to have had that $50 for the purchase of this upgrade. Now the old model will be a paperweight. If this model is your first one, I’d say this option works very well and you’ll have lots of I cord in no time. You also won’t have to watch as carefully and keep sliding the weights up before they hit the floor. I think the two things I would change are the access to the needles with the plastic cone blocking and a thumb screw you could remove easy to take off tension arm for easy storage. Other than that I’d recommend the product, fast and reasonably quiet and that skien of yarn quickly disappears into Icord for what ever project you want.

Love this. The instructions are pretty clear, although there are some things you have to figure out on your own. Like does the yarn go over or under the hooks when you are threading the set up. Also, it would have been helpful if the hooks were color coded to make sure that you are threading 1 & 3 to start the i-cord, but once you get the hang of threading it, it’s pretty easy. I made a bunch of i-cord that would have taken me a weekend to knit in less than an hour on the medium setting. Make sure your work surface is FLAT and there is enough room for your yarn to flow freely. The feed tension arm is sensitive.

Works great once you understand how you need to thread the needles. Very easy to use the machine. It's a plastic machine so you need to be careful about dropping it or knocking it off a table because it will break, but if you handle it carefully it should last a while. It makes beautiful looking i-cords
