  • Good if you want to limit internet use…sorta
Great phone. Tough. Simple to use. Gave it to our son because we wanted him to have a phone but didn’t want him to have Internet. Well it does access the internet and is a fully functional smart phone with a touch screen. However the screen is so small he doesn’t spend any time on it so it still accomplished the task of keeping him off the Internet. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Simple Durable Phone
Honestly a great phone, just powerful enough to google search/run basic utility apps, but not powerful enough to run games or scroll short form content. The perfect phone for someone trying to de-digitalize their life a bit.

  • Defective
Phone did not function. It turned on but never booted into android. Phone kept reporting corrupted OS. Several factory resets later it just jammed.

  • Works well, but may need advanced setup
It's strong and sturdy, as to be expected. But the setup of the network was more involved than I was hoping for. I eventually needed a hand. If you cannot get this thing to work on the network, try searching for "Cat S22 APN configuration" The buttons work well enough, and remembering T9 typing took a minute but it's not too hard. ... show more

  • solid but slightly confused device
This phone is very fun but weird... overall i love it but it does need some apps and adjustments to be better... for instance the keyboard, swap that with a different t9 app immediately. the phone cant quite be navigated entirely via the keypad, though it does do decent for most stuff in the desktop. The biggest issue is the lack of de-bouncing on the keypad, it will repeatedly double or triple tap numbers when trying to unlock the phone, and there doesnt seem to be a fix... thankfully the unlock seems to be the only major instance of this issue, with a properly tuned keyboard app it seems to be mostly fine aside from some random hiccups every so often. the phone is undoubtedly cheap, but its fairly tanky and will happily get bounced across the floor without missing a beat. though it is a little heavy and big for a flip phone. it also lacks a headphone jack, which really sucks, and would have earned it another star or two if it had one. overall its great for what it is, but it could be better ... show more

  • A perfect balance between dumbphone/smartphone
This review is from someone who is a tech savvy person. I've used pretty much any consumer electronic under the sun and can build a computer with my eyes closed, so take this with however much or little salt as you want. I consider myself a tech enthusiast, but have a love/hate relationship with it. Specifically with smartphones because they have become a plague on society, turning peoples' brains and attention spans into mush - designed to draw you in and steal your time from living outside of your dang screen. I was born in 93 so I'm not old (yet), and I am so sick of seeing people of all generations who can't sit at a dinner table or in a movie theater without pulling out their smartphones that I just don't even want to own one anymore. I am not someone who is addicted to their phone to begin with - I really only use it for utility purposes - but knew I still needed to be able to do mobile banking and also use my home security apps, and maybe GPS sometimes. I've looked at a bunch of old school flip style phones but none of them really seemed to have the capabilities I needed. Then I came across this - saw that it had a touchscreen, ran android, and the ability to remove most of the bloatware that comes on devices. I bought it, charged it, and tested it for one day, and by the end of the day decided this was the perfect balance of a smartphone and dumbphone. It has live GPS positioning like your smart phone instead of the "step by step" written instructions that other flip phones have, I was able to use my Chase banking app to deposit a check and transfer funds between accounts, was able to log into the Ring app to check my house alarm status, and was able to use my Kasa security app to check the live camera feed from my home. Technically you could probably download a lot of other apps from the android store, but the old school design and small screen of this phone would definitely discourage a lot of people. The only downsides I've encountered is that because this is a flip phone, it doesn't have a powerful processor in it...meaning that apps that take your smartphone a second or two to open might take this phone up to 10 seconds to open. Installing apps from the app store can also take a bit (one of the 3 apps I mentioned took up to 5 minutes to download over a solid wifi connection). The other issue I've come across is that because the screen is small, sometimes the digital keyboard will take up half the screen and make it difficult to see what you're looking at. Thankfully you can use the # key of the keypad to cycle between the digital keyboard and the old style numerical keyboard, which will give you full view of your screen back, and then you can scroll as needed, then switch back to the digital keyboard if you want. The battery life seems about on par with the Pixel 8a smartphone I switched from so far. I charged it up yesterday morning, and was on it quite a bit while I tinkered with it, set up my settings, downloaded apps, and switched my service over to it. As of now, 24 hours later, it still has 46% charge left, which with my type of usage I'm sure will probably last today and most of tomorrow. So if you are a utilitarian person like me, I expect a full charge with minimal usage could average 3-4 days of battery life. UPDATE: Alrighty, a few days later, I think I've got the phone fully customized and tailored to me. Everything I don't need is disabled and battery saver is on. After a full charge and minimal usage (1 or 2 phone calls, several texts), it's lost about 20% in about 30 hours....so my guess of 3-4 days was accurate. ... show more
