Description

Castrol EDGE with Titanium Fluid Strength Technology synthetic oils contain a patent pending liquid titanium molecule that increases motor oil strength. This dynamic system of fluid strength technology continuously responds to your engines every need under all conditions to deliver maximum performance. Motor oil is made from crude oil and is used to lubricate, clean, and cool engines. Types of motor oil include conventional, synthetic, diesel, bio-based, hybrid (blends of conventional and synthetic), and recycled oils. Motor oil varies in weight and viscosity, as well as additives that some manufacturers add to the oil during the refining process. A numerical code system created by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) grades motor oils according to viscosity--the higher the number between 0 and 60, the more viscous (thicker) the oil is. Most consumer motor oils are graded by two numbers, with the first number indicating cold weather (Winter or "W") performance.SAE 5W-20This oil has a weight of SAE 5W-20, meaning it has an SAE viscosity rating of 5 in cold temperatures and a rating of 20 at normal operating temperature. Always check your vehicle's owner's manual to verify that this is the correct weight of motor oil for your vehicle.Full Synthetic OilThis oil is a full synthetic oil, meaning crude oil is not used in making it. Its complex method of production means it can often cost more than conventional motor oil.

I have never sent in my oil for analysis, so my opinion is purely based on how much quieter the 3.4L engine in my 1999 4Runner is with 233k+ miles is when I use this oil vs others. I have switched back and forth to rule out other factors but the engine is always noticeably quieter/smoother with Castrol. I don't necessarily disagree with the idea that oil is oil as long as it meets specs and is changed frequently. I love the oil and the price, but it is very frustrating to never know what you will get from Amazon. I bought the black labeled European Formula Castrol Edge 5w-30 a few months ago. It is made in Austria. Then today, 6/9/2023, I get a delivery of identically spec’d Euro Car oil and it is made in USA of domestic and imported components. So inconsistent. ... show more

This oil is not that easy to find locally. And when I can find it, it is much more expensive than on Amazon. My Audi A6 TDI has used this oil over the last 80K, where I change it every 10K. Using a gallon jug makes me wonder why the even offer quart containers. I don’t have room for a 55 gallon drum, so this is much better option. Besides my Audi, I don’t use Castrol.
