Description

Liqui Moly's Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 is a fully synthetic, premium low- friction engine oil for all-season use in gasoline and diesel engines without diesel particulate filters (DPF). The combination of innovative base oils - based on synthesis technology and the latest additive technology - guarantees an engine oil that reduces oil and fuel consumption and that ensures fast lubrication of the engine. Depending on the manufacturer instructions, oil change intervals of up to 40,000 km are possible. Ideally suited for modern gasoline and diesel engines with multi-valve technology, turbocharger and with or without charge air cooling. Especially suitable where there are long intervals between changes and heavy duty engine requirements. Approvals from the vehicle manufacturers for Liqui Moly's Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 include BMW Longlife-01, MB-Approval 229.5, Porsche A40, Renault RN 0700, 0710 and VW 502 00/505 00.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars UPDATE: I think this review will help at least one person out there?
Style: Engine Oil
UPDATE April 2023: all of the below still stands and not changing the 5 stars but wanted to mention I won’t be buying this anymore. I understand inflation but this oil has JUMPED from $37 for 5 liters when I bought it to $50, since 2022! It was a bit pricey at $37 but I still felt it was worth it. This is in liters but every other builder approved oil for my car, MB 229.5 has gone up maybe $2-4 for a 5 quart jug. But $13 increase? A 40 percent increase? Forget it. I’ll go to Walmart and buy Mobil 1, Castrol, or Pennzoil. Castrol is a little bit more of a BMW/VW brand but all 3 - Mobil, Castrol, and Pennzoil have Euro spec that has my engine builder approval, not just recommendation. Also Valvoline has many German engine code approvals. Wonderful that it’s made in Germany but has become way too expensive since inflation hit in 2021. I’ll PASS! Ok super quick…it seems like great oil and all that good stuff. I know a little about oil and engine builder codes but I’ll never send an oil sample to a lab and all that jazz. I’m not here for that, per se. Over the past two years in particular, I’ve become a bit of a DIY’er on my car and proud that I’ve done some pretty extensive repairs myself. Naturally, I also started doing my own oil changes recently (my private mechanic previously did them). SO… Some advice for those who are new to doing their own oil changes. I have a 2010 C300 and did my oil change correctly but the owners manual says you can use either 0w40 or 5w40. I first did the oil change with 0w40…but I know my mechanic used to use 5 winter. The very first time I drove my car after the oil change…I got a check engine light and literally all kinds of codes…oil pressure, camshaft position sensor, 3 out of 4 oxygen sensors, etc. Maybe amateur mistake but also innocent mistake. I have 135k miles and was worried I ruined my car. I changed out all the brand new 0w40 and replaced with 5w40 and the oil pressure code and every other code went away. So the point of this review is that if there’s anyone else out there like me, not all hope is lost and this may be your fix of you get the check engine light. In this case, I used one of the correct viscosities but I guess since my engine always received 5 winter previously, and it has 135k with some natural wear, I should have started with the slightly thicker alternative that my owners manual also approved. That’s why I wanted to write this review…I’m not an expert so I’m sure this is wonderful oil (is it better than Mobil 1? not sure)…but it’s high quality. But the “story” above and hopefully helping someone with a similar issue is the real purpose of this review. ... show more

First,1994 police caprice package 9C1 LT1, good condition, engine is more quiet, mileage increase was one to two MPG. The LT1 has a low idle oil pressure not a serious issue but engine idle oil pressure increased 7 psi at idle over other 5 weight oils. At five thousand miles on the oil since it was changed it still looks like it was just changed. I have always used premium API group for PAO oils , but the API is about as straight forward as the The American Tobacco Institute in term of honest simple disclosures, The German ACEA rating is more honest very impressed with company, I have changed all of my vehicles to LM.
