I have wanted to try this mattress so I purchased a twin for my son. He disliked it from the beginning and said that it was hot, and he felt like he was stuck in the mud when sleeping on it. We started the return over 7 weeks ago, and the mattress was picked up over a month ago. This was an expensive item, almost $600 and I still have not seen a refund. I bought my first Casper direct 6 years ago and it was time to upgrade. The price on Amazon was better than casper.com so I ordered. The box arrived days later, covered in dust with a factory date nearly 1 year ago. Common knowledge, foam mattresses should not stay boxed and vacuum-packed for more than 3 months. I opened the box regardless hoping the mattress would be fine. 5 days later it still has not taken shape fully. After contacting casper.com they confirmed the mattress was likely damaged but I would have to deal with Amazon. Shame on casper.com to allow old stock to be sold through Amazon. Please refuse delivery if the mattress is older than 3 months. ... show more

    • Warning: Casper does not honor "no-risk trial"

Buying a mattress online is risky. Mattress comfort is a personal thing, Casper understands this and aggressively advertises their "no-risk trial" across many media outlets. According to the policy, Casper will issue a full refund and arrange for the disposition of the mattress if you find the mattress uncomfortable within the trial period. Without this guarantee, I would never have purchased this mattress. Unfortunately, if you purchase from Amazon, Casper will not honor the "no-risk trial". Amazon is willing to process the return and refund the cost but UPS will not take the mattress unless it's in a box and there's no way to get the mattress back in the box it arrived in without some ultra-special equipment. Even if I had a refrigerator box, I doubt I could make it fit. This is a nightmare. So, if you want to try out one of these Casper mattresses, do not purchase it on Amazon because Casper does not honor it's no-risk trial policy. That said, here's our experience with the mattress: basically, it's soft around the edges and very firm in the center. The foam has rounded (not square) edges that reduces the effective sleeping area by 4 to 6 inches all the way around. Some people might like this (but it's not our preference). It was also way too firm for our liking. We've learned our lesson and will never purchase a mattress again without having first tried it out in a showroom. ... show more

    • Why on earth did I wait so long!

My husband and I have been sleeping on a lumpy, incredibly uncomfortable standard KING mattress for years. The stupid thing was so expensive. I think we were trying to get every last penny out of the purchase...we can be stubborn like that too. It eventually just was not worth it anymore. So I researched different mattresses and spoke to friends. Kept on hearing about Casper. Liked the idea that it had the cooling gel (I run hot) and the fact you don't have to wait 2-3 days for the mattress to expand, liked the warranty and the price was pretty good. I was so glad that it was available on Amazon, it added a layer of confidence if there had been an issue. So I ordered the mattress and 2 days later it was delivered. OMG...like seriously OMG...the first night and every night afterwards, my sleep has been deeper and better than ever. My husbands back pain is gone..like poof! We had no adjustment period of going from a standard mattress to a foam type mattress. No issue with a smell. If you have another person able to help to unpack and set the mattress up, that would be great...and definitely set it up where you are going to be sleeping...thing gets heavy and bulky...FAST. A couple of years ago I replaced an extremely soft traditional spring mattress (that had become severely warped) with a middle-of-the-line Ikea foam mattress. The Ikea mattress, at least on a boxspring (as opposed to slats or directly on springs) was unbearably hard for me. I am overweight, and when I would lay down on my back on the Ikea mattress, my lower back would arch several inches over the mattress. I developed very frequent lower back soreness because of this. I finally had enough of the Ikea mattress, so I started researching alternatives, with the limitation that because of the pandemic I wouldn't be able to try out any mattresses at a store. Also, because of my very narrow stairs, I knew that the only King size mattress I would ever be able to move back downstairs when needed was an all-foam mattress (so hybrid options were out of the question for me). I researched mattresses extensively for a few weeks. I started with Consumer Reports, which rates Casper's mattress very highly. I read and watched review after review online. I also asked my friends on Facebook what mattress-in-a-box they recommended, and a friend wrote to say that her guest beds are Caspers and that her guests always mention how comfortable they are. I finally settled on the Casper original (all-foam) and I couldn't be happier. I find it very supporting and I like that I don't sink into it. It's funny to see some reviewers on here write that it's way too firm, and others say that it's way too soft. I think it's a pretty perfect balance of softness and support.     • If you have ANY back pain don't buy this mattress!

I was so excited to buy this mattress after the reviews only to be so disappointed later. After about 3 weeks my lower back stated locking up and I literally could not even turn over. I'm 57 and I weigh 155 and I am 5'5" tall. I have since ordered a Saatva and my poor husband is now sleeping on the Casper and he hates it and complains of back pain as well. We decided a year ago to put two twin xl beds side by side to create a King so we could each have the mattress we felt worked best for each of us. If we had not done this I would be on the couch. Instead to switched sides to save me and he took one for the team. Just two more nights till my Saatva arrives, I hope we make it. ... show more
