Designed for year-round use, the Casper Down Duvet uses naturally insulating duck down clusters to keep you comfortable and cozy. The carefully considered construction of the Down Duvet was proven to optimize your body’s natural temperature regulation — keeping you comfortable from dusk ’til dawn. The rectangular chambers drape perfectly across your body, while the seams prevent any fill from migrating. Combined with our highly breathable outer cotton shell, the Down Duvet insulates your body without trapping body heat. Lastly, the Down Duvet was no different when it came to Casper’s signature attention to detail. I have enjoyed using duvets in hotels but never thought about getting one for home until now. So glad I have one now! We’ve had a chilly and rainy spring in Chicago. Just to exacerbate matters, our heat went out at the end of April and it wasn’t fixed until a couple of days ago. Now our water heater isn’t working properly. I’ve spent a fair amount of time wallowing in self pity. The moment I got this duvet I went to bed for a wonderful restorative nap. Enough about me. The duvet really is like sleeping in a cloud. It almost seems to float over my body. It is warming but it doesn’t feel like I’m being suffocated - because it’s so light and floaty, air has room to circulate around my body. I initially thought it was false advertising to call this a year round blanket, but I can see that it will be nice to have in all but the hottest, muggiest days of summer when you really don’t want anything touching you at all. Even then, it’s a lovely thing to sleep/rest on top of. I gave up wearing down coats because I always found little bits of down sticking to my clothes. So far this duvet seems to contain the insides really well. The distinctive duvet crunchy sound will take a bit of getting used to, but it’s not a deal breaker. Also the whiteness of it is a little daunting for me. It seems almost inevitable I will spill something on it. I’ve ordered a duvet cover from Amazon. Unfortunately the cover creates another problem. The duvet is tied to the cover at the corners only, which leaves masses of fabric in the center to bunch up and otherwise go their separate ways. If I get ambitious I will tack the cover to the duvet at various spots which should take care of the issue. In any event, I vastly prefer the blue-gray color of the cover to the blinding white of the duvet. The instructions say the duvet is machine washable in a front loading machine, and tumble dry low. That means a trip to the laundromat as we have a top loading washer - again, not a deal breaker. All in all, I am thrilled with this duvet. This Casper Sleep Down Duvet is the real deal. The filling is real down, and the second you pull it out of the provided handy cloth travel bag, you can already hear the signature soft crunch and rustle of the down to verify that it's the real thing. Down alternative duvets, while handy, are simply not the same thing, as anyone who enjoys a good down filled duvet can attest to. This one is soft, with just the right fluffiness (not too much and not too little), and simply feels heavenly. This type of duvet is meant to be enjoyed year-around, and once you use it, you can see why. While warming for cold nights, it also feels wonderfully "cooling" when your body starts to get a little too warm. I've owned a lot of bedding that claims to do this, but none have ever truly lived up to that until this one. A feature that I absolutely love are the indicators to show you which end is supposed to go towards the head, so you can use it optimally. The fill is evenly dispersed all throughout, and doesn't shift around during use, like many other kinds of duvets. This is a really high quality item, built to last, and I feel like I'm sleeping with a cloud wrapped around me during use. This was an instant favorite with my family, and we are all fighting to take turns using it. It's definitely not your standard, run-of-the-mill duvet, and care for it is fairly easy. I was concerned that I would not be able to wash it in the washing machine, but no worries - it's built to do so (make sure you are following the washing instructions, however). Foremost, know that this makes one of the most remarkable gifts in the universe. I included pictures of the box so that you can see how it would look as a gift. The outside is pretty unassuming, but when you open the box, you are greeting with a field of stars ... it is strikingly gorgeous. Then, you will note that the duvet itself in protected in a cloth dust bag. The look is clean and you know that it will be free from dust. So impressive. Now, you know that you are getting a brand new Casper duvet because the zipper is closed with a cord that you must cut apart. It does not affect the bag ... you just throw away that little bit. But this stresses the fact that you are its first user. Another great little touch. Now, we have been using this duvet for the past two weeks. It is positive heavenly. It is light enough that my better half loves it (he gets too hot at night) and heavy enough that I love it (I get cold at night). It is perfect in its simplicity. And, it seems to please everyone. I cannot say enough about this uber soft, cozy duvet. It is very ... dreamy. If you are looking at this, I can only say that it is my favorite duvet, ever. I highly recommend it! ... show more
