Description

Casio Scorpion G9300-1 Wristwatch w/Altimeter, Barometer and Thermometer CasioWith the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

  • US Army Soldier
Let me start by saying that this is a great watch. I had my doubts about buying it at first but man am I glad I bought it in the end. To give you an idea of this watches day to day life, I am in the US Army so it sees a lot of action each day from land navigation to situation training. Pros: Love that it is solar powered, this way I don't have to worry about the battery dying when I use the light or compass, just wear it in the sun and it charges itself. Between night land navigation and military ops both these functions see a lot of use. That being said I love the fact that this watch has a compass. Down side is that you have to calibrate north using a separate compass, other than that it comes in great in a pinch. The moon phases feature is pretty helpful especially in junction with the compass. The watch also includes a small battery level display on the main screen so you can have an idea of its charge level. The ability to set another time zone and have it displayed is a nice feature to use when I find myself out of the country. At first I was worried about this watch being to big as some of the other G-Shocks I have seen are huge. Presently to my surprise this watch really is not to big in fact it is just about the right size and the wrist band has enough notches to accommodate just about any wrist size. Cons: I really don't have much to say here, only some nicky picky things. The temperature feature is cool but rather inaccurate while on your wrist since the sensor is right next to your skin and picks up body heat. I love the multiple alarms but I wish that they were a little louder, I am not a heavy sleeper but find that sometimes the alarm is too quiet to wake me up. Overall opinion: This is a great watch, I really can't say enough good about it.It is durable, functional and looks cool. I highly recommend this watch to anyone looking for a good watch, especially military and police personnel. ... show more

  • Spooky Nice
I can’t say enough about how much I like this. All the subtle details of the compass circle that duplicates as a moon phase display, the red flourishes and shiny parts come together to make an incredible desirable wrist watch. The hidden element of the wrap around case which covers the metal plate in the rear complete the package to make this the most comfortable G Shock I’ve put on my wrist. The teal blue illumination is just amazing. The moon phase reading is simply awesome. Other watches just show a picture but this steals the show by adding the actual lunar day. Solar charging all day - wow. The only negatives I can think of: - No barometer/altimeter. Well for that upgrade to the Rangeman, but then you lose the teal light or Pay double for the ProTreks which have very noisy dials. Or pay for a smartwatch but with the annoyances of a complex interface that doesn’t match the simplicity of dedicated buttons or excessive notifications - plus losing functions if you aren’t connected. The closest I came to a competing product is the Garmin Instinct which I do think is also great and for function definitely trumps the Mudman. But the unique Mudman look is what you give up. - no vibration. I’ve chosen to own and love the GD-350 for this reason alone. Despite not having all the features of the Mudman or other watches, the silent alarm trumps almost every other product I’ve tried for practicality every day. Casio should try to make this a standard feature wherever they can. - Buttons are pretty hard to press, a drawback of increased mud resistance. - Solar charging is really not practical unless you are out frequently for lengthy periods. Dwelling at home or in office - unless you are facing a bright open window it’s tough for this face to get enough light for full charging - characters could be a bit bigger ... show more

Excellent watch. Better fitting and looking than the 3195 (GW-2310), which looks too compact and has chrome plastic along the crown (see pix). Additionally, MM is bigger and I like bigger. My wrists are slim but MM looks nice on my wrist. Wrist band is more flexible. Looking cleaner like a commando or special forces piece of equipment, the MM is a great watch, my favorite. Only drawback is there is no multi-band 6 (atomic time) feature for this version of the MM. Paying an additional $100 more, the Japanese version has this atomic time component and is readily available through Amazon. This component is not a big deal with me since setting time with the MM is real simple and as long as I'm within 10 seconds of NIST time then I'm good. I highly recommend this very durable watch without the multi-band 6 component since setting time adjustments are very easy. ... show more

  • Affordable and durable
Love the watch. It’s simple, light weight, not big at all (my opinion ) , durable , comfortable. Anybody can nit pick a watch like a snob , but it’s reliable in the field and that’s the point. I have a GWG1000 and love it, but this watch is perfectly fine for $150

  • This watch is functional enough to cut time from having to look at my phone
I've been wearing this watch for a while and it's been a very useful accessory and tool. I have to admit, I dont utilize the compass very often if at all. So maybe think about it if you dont want to put extra money into it for that. I bought the watch because I know that this is a quality watch and it can withstand a great ordeal, in that regard it does not disappoint. I never needed to worry about charging it in the summer, ambient light from indoors also charges it. It can hold and display a great amount if useful info, especially when travelling often. I can set up several alarms to keep me alert of where I need to be during the day. If you set it to conserve power, the charge can last crazy long, or if you want functionality, twisting your wrist can activate the backlight so you dont need to locate the button to activate the light. This watch comes with me everywhere, and is no exception when working out or working hard. This watch is built to last, and is tough as hell, those are the reason you buy a watch like this. ... show more
