For the price, these are awesome. I have a shorter/stockier Mustang mare that 8ft barrel reins are too short for when she stretches low. These are perfect. I am lucky enough that one of my horses is sane enough to be ridden without a saddle or bridle. I simply attach this set of reins to his halter and off we go. They are very easy to get on and off, and for the price seem quite durable, but I haven't had them long enough to know how they'll hold up to constant wear. The one drawback is that they are on the shorter side. If your horse has a long neck, I wouldn't necessarily recommend them. However, they work for my average-sized quarter horse. ... show more

    • Looks like leather, but soft. And flexible.
Working on my tack to get a more finished, all leather look. But leather requires upkeep to prevent it from getting stiff. I would rather that time elsewhere. These reins are attractive and soft.

Not exactly what I expected or needed. Too short in length for a horse- more of a pony size, too lightweight for trail use, and sharp edges on the reins. Nice clips, though.
