I had a casemate for my iPhone 6 that was a hand me down from my son. He had it 2 years, gave it to me, and I used it 2 more, and it was still doing the job. So, when I bought the 8+, I bought this one. It does everything I want, and still fits in my jeans pockets or on my phone stand on my car dash for using the maps with gps. It looks good and holds up. The only place it breaks is on the plastic case on the camera corner which is very thin. If you take it out of the case very many times, that will crack. It doesn’t change how it works, though. It protects my phone, as I have dropped it several times with no damage to the phone. It holds my license, a few credit cards, and some cash. ... show more

UPDATE 7/29/18: I contacted Casemate directly and they sent me a brand new case under warranty for manufacturer’s defects (see issues below and attached pics). Warranty process was easy and I got the case within 3 days! Bumping it back up to 5 stars for customer service and the fact that I love this case. UPDATE: I’ve been using this case for about 6 months now and still am pleased with its overall performance as a stand in both portrait/landscape mode and as a tough case. I’ve dropped it countless times on concrete and there has been no damage to the phone. The bad is that the case is showing some wear unrelated to my drops. The drops pretty much hit the corners where there is slight peeling, but that’s because of the impact. What I don’t like is that there is now some bubbling around the camera opening, the stand has gotten a bit loose. The stand still works wonders, but when it’s closed it’s a little tilted. Also, where the openings are for the ports there has been noticeable peeling which is unattractive and I find myself picking at it. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the stand for its functionality, but I had to knock off one star for the aesthetics that are wearing down after 6 months. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don’t like how the reviews for all the TOUGH series cases are grouped together. I can only speak for the TOUGH STAND and say that it is amazing! I never had a case with a stand before and after using this case for a couple of weeks I can’t imagine not having one now. Good- grip along edges is fantastic. I love the feel of it and I find myself rubbing it sometimes 😊; the back is very smooth and worried me at first, but then I realized so that it can slide in/out of pockets easily; buttons are very tactile; my phone stands in portrait mode so I can read on my kindle app 📖 Bad- lip along face is shallow, BUT the phone has a great grip and I’ve also added a finger lanyard on the bottom to prevent drops; I don’t use screen protectors, but if you do it might be flush with the lip Overall- LOVE the stand and the tactile feel of the grip; I highly recommend it! I love the textured grip on the edges, and the kickstand that functions in both portrait and landscape orientation. Although, after a few years of use, the fit around the bezel started getting lose. During an accidental drop onto a hard tile floor, my glass screen shattered. After getting the glass replaced, I tried another type of case that I previously used, but I didn’t like it and then bought this model case again. This model case was made much better for the iPhone 7+, though, which had two layers for better protection and was made from better materials. I wish CaseMate still made this case for newer model phones, for when I eventually upgrade my iPhone. And, I wish they used the two layer design again. I would pay more for the added protection and durability. I still use the iPhone 7+ with the earlier version of this case and it is still like new. I would expect the case for the iPhone X/Xs will need to be replaced after a couple years of use. But, I do enjoy it’s utility while it is in good condition. I also don’t care for fancy colorful cases, so the flat black suits me just fine. ... show more

I upgraded my phone and needed a larger case so this is the second case-mate I’ve had. Initially they are a bit stiff, but overtime they become softer. I carry a couple credit cards, an ID, insurance cards and some cash and it all fits nicely. Not sure if it holds up to an impact as I keep it in my purse.     • Really nice and sleek case with a kickstand
Nice and smooth rubbery plastic on the back. Very crisp matte silver kickstand and buttons. The buttons are covered but still very responsive. The edge is textured for a secure grip. The edge is just thick enough to feel like it would protect from drops, but definitely not bulky. The only very minor gripe is that the kickstand only has one position, but that position is just the right angle for both portrait reading and landscape video watching, so it’s really a non-gripe. I got mine for the iPhone 8+, for $10, so it was a great deal. It’s $30+ now. ... show more

Was nice for a while. Then the plastic case that actually holds the phone began to crack. I’ll admit I purchased a second one because I liked the case. Then the same thing happened. It says that the unit comes with a lifetime warranty. It dies not… unless it’s sold by the manufacturer or Amazon LLC. I replaced it with a Sheildon like the one my wife had had for two years.
