Cascade Complete Dishwasher Liquid: because apparently, someone at Procter & Gamble looked at the perfectly functional world of dishwasher pods and gel packs and thought, "You know what this needs? The inconvenience of measuring." Welcome to the detergent that demands you actually pay attention while loading your dishwasher at 11 PM after a long day. Let's talk about that squeeze bottle design, which is clearly engineered by someone who's never actually used their product while tired, tipsy, or in a hurry (so basically, never in real-world conditions). You'll either dispense a pathetic dribble that couldn't clean a teaspoon, or accidentally squeeze out enough to wash dishes for a small restaurant. There's no middle ground, only regret. The "complete" in the name is doing some heavy lifting here, suggesting this liquid somehow does everything. Spoiler alert: it does everything with the enthusiasm of a teenager asked to do chores. Pre-wash action? Sort of. Grease cutting? Occasionally. Sparkling shine? Only if your definition of "sparkling" includes "vaguely cleaner than before with mysterious white residue." And speaking of residue: oh, the residue. That cloudy film on your glasses isn't a design feature, Cascade. It's not "frosted glassware chic." It's failure with a marketing spin. Your wine glasses now look like they've been to a particularly aggressive steam room. The measuring is pure guesswork theater. The cap has lines, sure, but who's actually looking at those at dish-loading-o'clock? You're just free-pouring like a bartender making drinks during happy hour, hoping for the best. Too little and your dishes come out decorated with yesterday's marinara. Too much and you've created a soap opera (literally) inside your machine. But here's the thing: it's liquid. In 2025. When pods exist. When gel packs exist. When literally any other format that doesn't require you to think exists. Using liquid dishwasher detergent is like choosing to use a flip phone because you "like the satisfaction of hanging up." Perfect for people who miss the days when household chores required more active participation in their own suffering. At least it's cheaper than pods, which is the only reason it gets 5 stars!
