The liquid and bar unscented soaps are a lifesaver! I am sensitive to smells and had to search for a new face soap when they started changing formulas in Dove unscented sensitive soap and the Clinique mild face bar soap. I found this brand on the Branch Basics website and it’s great! Has a slight smell but it’s from the ingredients and not a chemical smell. I don’t react to this soap (chemical smells can cause puffy lips/ face). I use the bar soap for my face and hands. My hands do not feel dried out after using the bar soap and it feels very moisturizing. I saw the laundry soap use on the box and by chance rubbed it on some clothes mailed from a department store that had a perfume smell that was not washing out with vinegar, baking soda, or Borax. I washed the clothes with my unscented Tide and vinegar and it worked! So now I use the liquid for washing perfume department store smells out of clothes by adding a couple capfuls to unscented Tide with Borax (maybe has something to do with the oils binding the fragrance but I’m not 100 percent sure). I hope they don’t ever have to change the formula. This is worth the price and a great company and great product!

What initially drew me to the soap was its a local company in my state of NC. I like to support local small businesses. I would like to say after using it for various cleaning over the past week I'm very pleased ! The scent is almost exactly like Almond extract minus the alcohol part of course. Its soft and pleasant. I've used it as a foaming cleaner for all surfaces. I've also used it to wash a load of towels and my dog. It foams nicely. I prefer this to the other major brand based on scent and the moisture factor when using it for washing & bathing. I will definitely buy again and will try a different smell. I want to try the bay rum one next. They also have a pretty label without all that random printing all over it so its easy to read the product information. Support Local 🥰

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Some brands of Castile are drying. This one is not. I use it primarily in a foaming pump for post tattoo aftercare-it’s gentle enough to wash a fresh tattoo but effective enough to cleanse away blood, lymph, ink and debris. This is a gentle affordable alternative to expensive “tattoo aftercare “ soaps. I always follow this with a medical grade antibacterial soap as well.

Being a connoisseur of Bay Rum, and with many popular brands not being available for some reason or another, I opted to try Carolina Castile Bay Rum Soap. Pros: I like that the soap lathers up well, and washes off clean without leaving your skin feeling like you have to stand in the shower for another 20 minutes to get it off! I like that this soap does not dry out my skin - something important for a diabetic! There is definitely something to be said about natural ingredients vs. other brands that use, well, nothing but chemicals. I am personally a fan of Duke Cannon, but is HAS been drying out my skin a lot as of late - so this was a RELIEVING change in how my skin felt after using! Cons: The scent is inconsistent with classical Bay Rum. When you first smell the soap, you get hit hard with the heavy and distinct smell of the olive oil, and a darn good twang of citrus. Upon using and scrubbing, the olive oil and citrus scent dissipates into a very VERY subtle scent of some spices, and hardly any notes of "rum". Don't get me wrong - once you get past the olive oil, it is NOT a bad scent - it's not a traditional "Bay Rum" scent, and sincerely I hope Carolina Castile puts the effort in to fixing the scent profile of this product! I wanted to "love" this soap - but until that Bay Rum scent gets tweaked to a more classical Bay Rum, I give this a SOLID 4 stars due to it's excellent ingredients and leaving my skin feeling great after a nice shower!

Update 5/26/25: I bought bulk unscented USDA certified organic from the supplier, Stephenson, that supplies most companies. It has 100% certified organic ingredients. You can buy it online from local distributors in 1, 3, 5, 55, 275 gallon etc. quantities. I recommend using PayPal when buying from small online stores. You can find the online distributor that's nearest you using the list on the Stephenson website. Liquid Soap 105 is coconut and sunflower oil and Liquid Soap 101 is coconut and olive oil. Search for "stephenson liquid soap 105" and the "stephensonpersonalcare" website should show up in your search results. Update: 4/26/25 This has a non organic ingredient that can be potentially toxic if not processed properly.
