My son wanted a claw game for Christmas. We could not fit (or afford) a real arcade sized, so gave this a shot. It is fantastic. He has not stopped playing it for two days straight. Most grabs get a toy or candy (we filled it with little finger puppets and chocolates), but there is still some skill involved. When you drop a toy into the slot, the machine cheers and shuts off. It took my 6-year-old about five minutes to figure out that anything he pushes into the coin slot will activate the machine, which is no big deal. There is a big pile of fake coins included if you need them though. It was a bit of a hassle getting this ready to play. The claw is wrapped in plastic which must be removed, but there is no way to open up the machine to access the claw. I was able to remove the plastic through the top accessport with some scissors, but it was a bit tedious. There is also a white wire wrapped around the claw moving mechanism that you need to unwind. Once those parts are off, this thing is good to go. It is a bit loud, but a few pieces of packing tape over the speaker holes reduced the sound to a more tolerable level.

I gave this to my 10 year old niece for Christmas and she loved it! I filled it with mini plastic dog and cat figurines and candy for prizes and it was such a hit that my 33 and 45 year old brothers also spent hours playing (they are super immature, but the game is quite fun in their defense). The only reasons I am not giving this 5 stars is because 1) the game did not work at first...it took over an hour to take apart, jiggle and move around the chain to get it working (then it was fine), and 2) there is no volume control to turn down or mute the somewhat loud carnival-like music (granted, the music is somewhat necessary as when the music winds down, that is how you know you only have a few more seconds left to play), but it would be nice to be able to at least turn it down (it got old hearing the same song play over and over and over again into the wee hours of the night while everyone was playing).

I didn't have high expectations for this claw machine but my son really, really wanted it for Christmas. I think he asked for it last year and for his birthday and didn't get it, so I decided to get it for him. I thought it was way overpriced but hoped it would last. Boy was I wrong. We put quite a few things in to start with and it must have been too much because it wouldn't pick anything up. The chain kept getting caught and wouldn't grab things very well. We took a bunch of items out and it worked a little bit better. The music it plays is loud and annoying but my kids thought it was super cool. After dinner, my son went to play with it again and it was completely dead. I thought, surely it didn't run out of batteries already!! We changed the batteries just in case and it still didn't work. I couldn't believe it. I didn't think it would last that long but CERTAINLY more than a day. We ended up sending it back. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

After reading reviews on many of these types of machines I ended up with this one. My first choice was sold out so runner up won. First the pros- It is rather entertaining for kids and adults. Perfect size to sit on a book shelf. Bright colors. It looks nice. Really works to an extent....see cons Cons- When I received the machine it worked but rattled like there was something stuck in it. So we unscrewed the bottom and found a peice if plastic rolling around inside. It apparently wasn't important because machine still works. Takes D cell batteries....nothing runs on D batteries anymore....except this thing. Music it plays is VERY loud and there's no control options. I considered cutting the speaker cord to make it silent, but with out the music you don't know when your turn is almost up. The music speeds up the last 10 seconds or so. The claw was wrapped on plastic abd tied in place to protect it in shipping. Problem is the opening in the top is very small and you can't take the top off so it was difficult getting it undone for play. Claw is rather weak. So you have to be sure prizes are fairly light. It has 3 joysticks that control it. They are all plastic and my daughter has popped them off several times. Luckily she hasn't clean snapped them off.. yet... The coin slot doesn't really work. Coins pass by the trigger making it work, but the coin doesn't go all the way down until another coin pushes it put if the way OR as my son quickly learned when a butter knife of screwdriver pushes it. That brings me to the next con.... you can easily activate it by just pressing the button in the coin slot with a flat object. Sucks when your kids learn they don't really need coins and just cheat. On the bright side they can't be sneaky about doing it bevause whenever activated the loud circus music rats them out. Overall for the price I am satisfied, but the quality is not fantastic.

My 13 year old son got this for his birthday and he loves it! It was easy to put together and he plays with it for hours on end. It’s easy to move the claw and pick up little prizes. I would highly recommend this claw machine!

I bought this for my four year old niece, but I have to say the entire family enjoyed it from ages 2–83! It's well made and really fun to play. Seems pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that you cannot turn off the sound and it becomes irritating after a while. I wish there were a sound off option. Otherwise a great gift!
