I bought this anorak for hiking and everyday wear, and it has exceeded my expectations. The material is lightweight but still feels tough, just like you’d expect from Carhartt. It sheds light rain easily thanks to the Rain Defender coating, and it dries quickly afterward. The fit is loose but not baggy great for layering over a hoodie or flannel on cooler days. The packable design is a huge plus; it folds into its own pocket and fits right into my backpack without taking up much space. Perfect for those “just in case” moments when the weather turns. I also appreciate the simple, clean look. It’s functional without screaming “technical gear,” so I can wear it around town as well as on the trail. If you’re looking for a reliable, lightweight rain layer that won’t weigh you down but still holds up to everyday wear and tear, this is a solid choice. Highly recommend!

Seems decent in rain, haven't been caught in a big storm yet. Although it will protect from bee stings ..had to deal with yellow jacket infestation & not one stung through jacket

This for folks who like pull overs and hoodie's. I like the smock design Over all quality is fair don’t know how it will be after a wash or two.I live in the PNW we get rain more rain and this was not a rain defender more like a wet blanket. Front pocket (map pocket.)sags open when wet . Very annoying and great for getting caught on something .Should have a zipper or more Velcro. Im It’s not really rain gear in my opinion . It is nice for those long dreary misty days or misty mornings that are not dreary but just misty and will be sunny later but a little brisk and maybe breezy. You could get by with a medium base layer and this . Cost about the price of a good hoodie probably packs smaller and does have zippered hoodie pouch like pocket behind the map pocket ( which I’m adding Velcro to and you will have to also unless maybe there is a design change because of this review. Would not recommend as rain gear for prolonged downpours.
