  • A nearly perfect work jacket.
Size: Large Color: Dark Brown
I have been a Carhartt fan for years, and I purchased the Utility Jacket to replace my 26 year old Carhartt chore coat. What do I like about this jacket: Everything. The Fit: I am 5ft 11in tall, 185lbs, Medium build, so I ordered a Large, and the fit is perfect from the sleeve length to the shoulders. Because the jacket is gusseted, it allows for full range of motion even with the jacket fully zipped and buttoned. The jacket has an adjustable waste cord, which I have not had to touch. Another nice feature is the jacket length, which falls at pocket level on a pair of jeans. The jacket is slightly longer in the back than in the front, which keeps it from riding up. Storage: The jacket has six pockets. Two front "hand" pockets, two buttoned breast pockets, an additional front left breast pocket with a center Velcro closure, which makes for a handy place to hold pencils, and an interior zip pocket on the left, which I use to keep my wallet secure. Pocket depth has not been an issue, and I keep an IPhone 13 in the front hand pocket with no issues. Warmth: The jacket is Sherpa lined. I've worn it hours in 25-32 degree temps and was comfortable with just a T-shirt under a Henley shirt. I would say that it would be comfortable to work in from 20-50 degrees. The zipper (right zipper) also has a button cover, making it that much more air tight. The sleeves are cuffed, though they don't appear to be at a glance. These cuffs really help with keeping cold air from seeping into the arms, especially if you're like me and you like to wear a thinner undershirt while working. There is a Sherpa-lined attached hood as well. Construction: This jacket feels heavy duty. The zipper is beefy, the buttons solid, and the overall construction is solid. I feel like I can use and abuse this jacket without destroying it. The duck outer lining is not soft cotton, but it moves, and feels strong without being stiff. Appearance: This is not a bad looking jacket and I might even call it stylish. I would feel fine wearing this while out and about. Demerits. I give this jacket one demerit, and it is a very minor demerit, and that is the attached hood. I like the hood, I like how it lays on the back when not in use without feeling bulky, I just wish that it could be removed. This is a very minor quibble, however. Overall I highly recommend this jacket if you are in the market for warm, heavy duty, and practical work wear. It is not inexpensive, but I feel it is worth every penny. In fact, I would go as far to say that even if you aren't in the market for a work jacket, but only warm jacket that can take a beating, then this jacket is worth considering. It is warm, comfortable, practical, and not bad looking. ... show more

  • Stylish and warm
Size: 3X-Large Color: Black
My husband loves his new jacket! It fits perfectly and is super comfortable. The quality is excellent and exactly what one expects from Carhartt. It's stylish enough to wear out n about too. He thinks I paid way more than I did for it. Lol I'm not saying anything 😉

  • A bit pricey BUT…it's not a bad jacket at all.
Size: X-Large Tall Color: Moss
This jacket is absolutely perfect for FALL WEATHER!!! It’s not too heavy, not too long the color is great…it doesn’t look like a work coat. I don’t know yet if it is water resistant, but if needed. I can bring it to the cleaners for treatment. It’s a good heavyweight material so I am sure it is durable. The only real drawback to this garment is its price, yes it IS a bit pricey but, for its warmth and quality it is worth the cost. Okay, so I've had it about a month and a half now. It IS a good sturdy jacket, but if it is cold out, and the wind kicks up...you WILL feel that cold, but you'll also warm back up again immediately. This jacket is MEANT to be worn with warmer shirts underneath. It's comfy, but the pockets are wrong, and they are not deep enough. I have a five inch flashlight that I carry in one pocket...and it JUST lays there...turn the wrong way and it's gone. A GREAT jacket...NOT A COAT...but it can use some REAL improvements. As Carhartt products go...I'm totally disappointed. OH...and the INSIDE ZIPPER is really too small, it's verrry hard to hold onto and zip the jacket up. A MUCH BETTER VALUE would be the ROTHCO FIELD JACKET...WITH THE LINER...TALK ABOUT A WARM JACKET...AND IT DOES PROTECT YOU FROM THE RAIN, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE A HOOD...BUT...YOU CAN PROBABLY BUY ONE. ... show more

  • Great jacket, true to size
Size: Large Color: Carhartt Brown
This jacket is exactly as described, true to size and very warm. The duck cotton is strong and durable with multiple pockets . The wind doesn’t cut through ! If you work outdoors and need a jacket that actually holds true to what the description says I highly recommend.

  • jacket is nice
Size: Large Color: Black
It’s definitely the most practical jacket I’ve owned, comfortable, warm, and fits great. The only thing I wish was different is the length of the jacket, it fits loose in the waste and chest but rides high at the belt line.

  • Tough, stylish, and very warm.
Size: Medium Color: Dark Brown
My other coats are nice but the bitter cold gets through to the inner layer when the wind blows. Not this coat. The exterior is like a shell that blocks the wind, cold and water while the inside is soft and breathable. Love all the pockets on the inside and the tapered back side that covers my a$$ from the cold also! ... show more

  • Warm but bulky
Size: Small Color: Dark Brown
Note: I am not the target clientele for this jacket. I am a woman with a relatively slight build. As such, I did not fit very well into the size chart dimensions. I would have ordered an extra small if that was an option. Jacket is warm and comfortable. Cons are largely cosmetic-related. Pros: - Very warm jacket. It keeps me nice and toasty down to freezing weather. For colder than freezing, I prefer longer coats. - Relatively light-weight. A lot of winter coats are extremely heavy. This one is mid-weight. - Feels durable. The fabric is sturdy and the coat seems well made. - Lots of pockets. I wish the side pockets had zippers, but they are a good placement for keeping your hands warm. Cons: - Snap buttons are difficult to close. Especially with gloved hands, the snaps are very difficult to get closed. You need one hand on either side of the fabric to press them together. - Too wide at the shoulders. This should not be an issue for the target clientele. - Bulky. If I was able to order a smaller size, this likely would not be an issue. Unfortunately, they do not offer sizes below small. - Fabric is stiff. The jacket keeps its shape when I wear it. Not really an issue, just looks a bit odd on me. ... show more
