Description

Our sandstone Detroit jacket works as hard as the industrial city it’s named for. Constructed of tough 12-ounce, 100% cotton sandstone duck, it features warm sherpa lining in the body and quilted-nylon lining in the sleeves. Well outfitted for storage, the jacket includes a left-chest pocket with zipper closure, plus an inside pocket as well as two lower-front pockets with zipper closures. The adjustable cuffs and waist enhance fit, and a pleated bi-swing back adds comfort. Built Carhartt strong with triple-stitched main seams.

I hope this helps many people. The jacket is as described; it runs a little larger than normal. It's bigger than a regular jacket, apparently designed to be layered underneath, but the sleeves are fitted and it's longer than usual. It's long enough to wear some thicker clothing underneath. It's comfortable, high-quality, and very durable, judging by the fabric. Ideal for work or casual wear, it's guaranteed to last a long time. My advice, as always, is to order one size down, and if it's uncomfortable, go for a larger size or a Tall. It's excellent, and I really like its short design and long sleeves. The Carhartt Duck Detroit Jacket is outstanding. The construction is exactly what you’d expect from Carhartt—rugged, durable, and built to last. Keeps me very warm. The torso was kind of short but could be the style. Washes fine using the instructions on it. Weight feels fine. Not the lightest jacket I've had but gives me the sense that it effective. Pockets have no zippers but nothing has fallen out. Before purchasing I've considered the reviews about the zipper problem, but personally I haven't had any issues or felt like there were going to be any. I don't like the quality, hold, and snap of the buttons on the wrists. They have the brand logo, on them, but are disappointing. The fit is perfect. I am 5 feet 8 inches tall. The sleeves are long enough to allow a good range of movement. On the the first button snap, they are too long and the wrists are too big. But, the second is fine, and the length is needed be able to move well. This is the large. I have other Carhartt cotton jackets, size medium that I can not wear, because I washed them and they shrank, a lot. If, I loose weight, and feel like risking it, I may wash this one. If, I was planning on washing this jacket, at my current weight, I would consider getting an extra-large, and wash it a couple of times before use. I am 200 pounds and this size is perfect with with one long sleeve shirt underneath, or one shirt and a thicker second layer. ... show more

Cut for flat bellys. The rib knit bottom style looks better on me and does not let cold air in. The current garment sold here is not the old sanded cloth material (sandstone ?) but is the visible weave material Carhartt is using now. Doesn't look as good or authentic. This jacket has mostly blanket lined body with slick nylon or polyester with insulation in the sleeves. There are gussets in the back shoulder area for freedom of movement. Zipper front with snap sleeve cuffs. I had to unsnap to get the jacket off. Exterior chest zipper note pad pocket. Interior zipper pocket and interior velcro closure pocket. Two exterior scoop handwarmer pockets. Snaps under corduroy collar for hood(?) Warmth rating of 1 but feels warmer. I find Carhartt sizing to be all over the place. Tag said "relaxed fit". Their large full zip sweatshirt hoodie says "loose fit". A Large fits me like a glove with a tee shirt under. XL in same garment is too big I got this in XL and its a little big in the back but with an old man belly I dont think I could wear a Large. I'm 6'4/235 wearing a 38 waist jean. All Carhart items mentioned above were purchased as talls. This jacket in tall is still kinda short and falls on me at the belt line. I had a Santa Fe jacket that was getting old, this was as close as I came to finding as similar jacket. My old jacket was large tall and so is this one, it is longer. I’m 6’2” with long arms and these are a little long but useable. It’s not a cold weather jacket but is good for temps above 30°. It’s Carhartt quality and should last awhile. ... show more
