Warm, comfortable, keeps light rain away. Confident it'll handle our moderate Missouri winters. Made in a country that I'm not currently mad at. Fair price for the quality (incl. metal zipper). I'm 6' and 185 lbs., and size L fits me almost perfectly. Some hoodies seem to consider the hood an afterthought, making for an awkward fit; this hood fits like it was tailored for me. Even has an inside left-breast zippered pocket. So far, the subtle flaps over the front "kangaroo pockets" are keeping my beanie & gloves secure, without needing zippers. Collectively, I'd knock off half a star for being very slightly stiff, esp. at the collar when it's zipped all the way up, and for a somewhat-obstructive pocket inside the right-front "kangaroo pocket." But: if you want a winter hoodie that's comfy, mostly soft, & presumably durable, I'd say this is a good buy.

Soft material and a little bit of rain resistance. A little heavier than most hoodies. Just what I wanted. This is my second Carhartt coat and both are excellent. Warm and tough, with fairly solid zippers and plenty of pockets.

The Sweatshirt was a gift to my son and to my husband. They both say their loose fit, full zipper, Rain Defender is wonderful! Comfortable and it repels rain! Provides the warmth needed to out in cold, rainy, windy days at work and for casual wear.

Nice and warm, easy to put on and has a nice zipper. My only complaint is that one of the rivets that the drawstring around the hood comes through has popped out after the 2nd time in the washer, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. However, other than that, the jacket has held up nicely. I've worn it to work outdoors, traveling in both rain and snow, and every weather condition I've run into since I bought it. I wore it all winter, and never found that it was too light or heavy for most cooler days. One thing to consider is that it is physically bulkier than a normal sweat jacket, but it is still comfy and warm.

I bought this sept of last year and it provided me excellent warmth and it repelled the water good enough. I have not washed it yet in the washing machine so I am not sure if that will affect the water repellent. Weather is warming up so I wont be wearing this till next fall. I will wash it then and find out.

I originally ordered a medium, but had to return it and buy a small instead. If you like a baggy fit go medium, but if you want it to fit properly go small. Pretty heavyweight and warm, definitely made for fall to early winter. High quality zipper ties everything together and if very durable. This is one of very few jackets that I’d expect to last years to come.
