I bought the same jacket in black 5 years ago and it’s hands down the most warm and durable coat I’ve ever owned. I also get compliments on it still to this day even though it’s visibly frayed and faded from the elements. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my old black jacket and still my go to jacket when it’s cold outside because it’s so warm and comfortable. I just like it so much I wanted another one in a different color so I got the brown one this time. These run big, designed for layering underneath comfortably. Such a stiff fabric but it softens as you wear it and wash it. Thick cotton shell that won’t tear when hopping barbed wire fence or rubbing against sharp rebar. Doesn’t matter if you’re doing construction work, camping, or a professional burglar, this jacket will serve and protect you. It’s like walking around in a sleeping bag with sleeves. I did not need another Carhartt jacket but just in case I lose my old one I have a back up jacket ready for action. Buy it now and you will not be disappointed in this investment. It may be the perfect jacket, especially for the winter months.

I'd had this jacket in my "save for later" Amazon cart and saw the price drop (which saved me about $25-$30 over what BPS would have got me for) so I ordered it. As I was already on the road to visit family for Thanksgiving (and was staying for a few days to hunt), I had it sent to their house. It got there too late for opening day - not a delay, that's just how the timing worked out - but I wore it the next day. I needed a new jacket because briers had finally taken their toll on the Redhead jacket I had. I got the blaze orange Carhartt because I was tired of fighting with those flimsy nylon vests every season. As many already know, Carhartts generally run a little bit large, but I'd had the opportunity to try one on in a store before buying. Mine is a 2XL, the size I normally wear, and it has plenty of room to wear several layers underneath. (Good thing, too, 'cause it was COLD!) The jacket performed just as I thought it would: very comfortable, blocked every last screaming knife blade of wind, and the next day when temps climbed to the low 40s, kept the rain completely out. I love these jackets! As I said, they run large so decide how you expect to use it most often before selecting a size. If you're usually between sizes, that means whether you'll be layering underneath it or wearing it by itself. By the way, although this jacket will definitely keep you warm, you can also wear it unzipped in moderate weather and not get TOO warm. But the overall best thing about it is that on the first day I wore it I got my deer! Hooray! Great jacket in general, and lucky too!

Runs a bit large, (M fits like L) but it is expected as it is labeled oversized. Great coat for the winter or general work wear. Personally have only owned vintage carharrt, so having a new jacket was a first for me. A bit stiff out of the box, but after multiple wears it does soften. When washing, make sure you tumble dry until 50% dry and hang dry the rest of the way. The way carharrt does its fabric, using heat can lead to some shrinkage/breakdown.

I bought the navy 2xl tall and at first i thought it was too big and that it looked a bit "ballony" on me when i wore it, im 6'2 280lbs, not a big belly or anything like it, i just have a bigger chest and shoulders as ive always hit the gym as a hobby. I wanted something comfortable that would allow me to layer up and not feel thight if i had to. And with this jacket at this size it was perfect! Until i decided to trow it in the industrial washer and dryer we have at work after 2 months if regular use, a heavy 35min wash with heavy duty detergent and softener and an equally 35mins of heavy duty drying, the jacket felt more normal than before. It shrunk the perfect amount and now it fits like my leather 2xxl tall jacket fits. Perfect at the chest and shoulders, arm length is great and about 2inches below waits line. It doesn't "ballon" anymore and it feels soft, about as soft as a duck canvas jacket can ever feel. Its been great so far and even better after that heavy duty wash and dry. I work overnight maintenance at a 5 acre resort and i do most of my get around and work outdoors and during the winter it gets down to a chilly 30 and this jacket is perfect, keeps me warm and is still large enough to layer up if i have to and still have free movement. Like i said, at first it seems and looks a bit too large compared to other same size jackets, but give it a good wash and dry and it will feel like the best jacket ull ever own.
