  • Carhartt for the win!
Size: Small Color: Black
This is an amazing jacket. I needed a nice, heavy winter jacket for the cold and windy coastal Santa Cruz weather after moving to college, so I wanted something that would keep me warm but also look cute. This jacket is exactly what I wanted. I get compliments almost every time I wear it and now all my friends want one! Pricing: I don’t usually spend more than $30 on clothing, but I really wanted this jacket, so I decided to splurge a little. Plus, Carhartt is a reliable brand, so I know it will last me a very long time. I looked into a few other brands (Dickies, Patagonia, etc.), but I felt that Carhartt was a better fit for what I was looking for. I considered getting a jacket from Dickies ($139.99) that was close to identical, but I decided to go with Carhartt ($109) because not only was it more cost-efficient, but it seemed warmer and more stylish as well. Pros: The jacket is nice and warm without being too heavy and goes with almost any outfit. I also love that Carhartt tends to look even better with a little wear and tear over time, unlike some other brands. This way I don’t have to treat it like a new pair of white shoes and be worried about getting a little scuff or dirt on it. It is extremely durable, so if that’s what you’re looking for, look no further! Potential Cons: You should be aware that when you first get the jacket it may feel bulky and tough, but it is easy to break in. I washed it a couple of times according to the instructions on the tag and it is much better now. It was a bit big on me (as I was expecting), so I threw it in the dryer after I washed it and it did shrink a little bit, but definitely not too much. For reference, I am 5’2 and 110 lbs and I got the mens small. It is still a little big on me even after shrinking it, but that’s exactly what I was aiming for. The zipper can be a little sticky at times, but it hasn’t been a big issue for me so far. One thing you should know is that it is not waterproof or water-resistant. I wore it in the rain once and the water soaked right through the outer shell. Still not a problem for me though! Just thought I’d mention it. Overall: Overall it's an amazing jacket and is one of my favorite clothing items that I own. I don’t know how I went all this time without it! High quality, plenty of pockets, comfy, warm and stylish. I definitely recommend getting this jacket! ... show more

  • Nice thick jacket
Size: Small Color: Carhartt Brown
It’s a very nice quality, and heavy coat. It fits very nice and looks great. The zipper is smooth and the pockets are handy. In the cold it performs incredible keeping you warm.

  • Perfect fit
Size: X-Large Tall Color: Dark Navy
Great jacket, fits perfectly. I bought it for work because I work in a steel plant and it gets freezing cold in there especially during winter. This jacket keeps me nice and warm

  • Better than expected!
Size: XX-Large Color: Black
This Jacket/Coat looks good! I almost don't wanna wear it to work and get hydraulic fluid/Oil on it. I'm gonna have to order another one I guess. The materials are nice and seems to be able to stand up to tough work. One bit of advice, do not order thinking you may need a size bigger than you are. I almost made that mistake and it it fits perfect! Stands up to the winds on the flight line and, doesn't get in the way of work either. Very satisfied with this purchase! ... show more

  • Excellent cold weather jacket
Size: XX-Large Color: Carhartt Brown
As expected, this jacket fits a little on the large side. Since it's loose-fitting, it will be easy to layer clothes underneath it when the weather is extremely cold. It's not often extremely cold in my part of the country so I won't have to do this much. Around here, temperatures seldom dip into the low 20 degree F range and it has been no colder than freezing since I bought this jacket. I've been wearing my jacket with a tee shirt and I've been comfortable, even in a strong wind. When the temperature is in the 50 degree range, this jacket is still comfortable when unzipped. The lining is soft--very soft and nice to the touch. The hand warmer pockets are nice to have but they're unlined...wear gloves if you want to really keep your hands warm. The material is Carhartt's cotton duck which is thick, stiff and wind resistant. It's also very tough material so it will stand up to abrasion and lots of hard wear. The hood is fully functional and warm since it's quilt-lined like the body of the jacket. However, the hood is bulky and the material is stiff so it stands up pretty tall even when down. I usually wear a hat with a full brim when outside and that simply doesn't work well with the hood. When down, hood interferes with the rear section of the brim. When up...well, a hat is simply out of the question. I have noticed the material in the hood has gotten a little softer with time and wear so it may eventually allow me to go back to wearing a hat. Until then, it's a baseball cap for me--just like everyone else. I haven't worn this jacket in the rain so I don't know how water repellant it is. I have another Carhartt jacket--a chore coat--and it is not water repellant whatsoever. A spraying with Scotchguard should improve water repellency if it's to be worn while working in the rain and snow. If I were going to improve the jacket in any way, I guess I would add insulation in the handwarmer pockets. I would also make the hood detachable so guys like me could wear their hats from the get-go. Neither of these points are deal-breakers. This is an excellent work or play jacket for cold weather wear. ... show more

  • Robust and warm
Size: Medium Color: Black
I like the fit and feel if this jacket which, I intend on using in cold weather for work. The firm duck seems durable and the liner is pretty comfortable and warm. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is the fact that the hood's seem is lopsided instead of going straight up the middle. Kinda goofy since it's somewhat noticeable too. Other than that, this jacket will likely serve me for years. ... show more
