Really good quality material, lining feels nice and warm, works good in 20F weather, although I do also wear a cotton thermal undershirt underneath to keep warm. Size runs big, I'm a Large and Large fits me like a XL, though I like the feel of the big size and can fit a extra jacket underneath if it gets extremely cold. I highly recommend getting a zipper attachment like a charm or string for the outer and inner chest pockets, the zippers have flaps to hide them and are hard to grab sometimes, so having something to pull on helps alot ... show more

I'm 6,2" 190 lbs and medium fits perfect, even after washing the coat. Shoulder seams line up with my shoulders and the sleeves are the perfect length. The coat comes down to around mid-butt which is perfect for preventing drafts. Quality appears to be good with sound stitching throughout. Hand pockets are sherpa lined which came as a bit of a pleasant surprise. Should be nice and warm when the temperature drops a bit further this winter. ... show more

Love this coat! Fit accommodates a heavy shirt underneath, covers bum for warmth, and double zipper is advantageous to zip up if needed for sitting in car or accessing pant pockets. We used a little wax on the zipper to ensure smooth motion. Gray is a steel gray color which looks nice with denim.

Super great coat! This coat is great looking and warm. You should order 1 size down (they run large). And you should also use a light oil on the zipper once a week. The zipper is heavy duty and you have to push it down into place to start it. Slowly break in. I will buy this coat again when this on wears out. I am now on my 3rd Carhartt in about 25 years. Took me three tries to get this jacket but thanks to Amazon's easy return policy I finally got it and there's a lot to love about it. First, I ordered a Large because that's what I wear. The sleeves are really long to the point there was no way I could keep that size so I exchanged for a Med. The Med. arrived a couple days later and the zipper was broken. Not just hard to get on and off as I expected that, but the zipper was literally bent to the point where I had to take the jacket off over my head and pry the zipper enough to finally get it open. So, returned it, replacement arrived a few days later and it was right as rain. Sleeves are still a tad long but I'm fine with that and there is enough space in the jacket for a sweater underneath for layering. The washed fabric feels much more broken in than the standard Carhartt which I really appreciate. While rated a "2" in warmness on their bizarre rating scale, this jacket is extremely warm. It has been around 30 degrees in my area lately and I get toasty in this thing. The pockets are great, The interior left chest zipper packet and right side chest velcro pocket were must haves for me and are a welcome addition. Also, I ordered the attachable hood here on Amazon for $25.00 bucks. One of my wants was a jacket that didn't have an attached hood and this is one of the few that Carhartt offers. It is odd to me that for 25 bucks more they don't just include it with the jacket but whatever. Zipper is somewhat stiff as others have mentioned but once you find the sweet spot of getting it on, you get the hang of it and it becomes second nature. All in all I really like this jacket and hope that it lasts me a very long time. 4/5 stars simply because I don't just throw out 5 stars unless something really blows me away. I bought this for my fiancé and he absolutely loves it! It was a surprise so I didn’t know how it would fit him, but it fit him perfectly. He is 6’3” & 198lbs. I was worried that it would be too short, but it’s perfect. The fit is absolutely perfect. He absolutely loves the color and it was well worth the money. He had another Carhartt jacket for about 10 years and he immediately said that the one that I bought him would last longer than that. It fit him perfectly. I like this jacket for working outdoors in a sawmill. It makes my hi-vis vest pop, feels ideal for anything other than a raging ice storm here in Oregon, and is pleasantly heavy. It moves very well. Sleeves run a little long, but not annoyingly long. From a safety standpoint, hoods are verboten by the safety inquisitors, so the fact that this has no hood is ideal for work.
