Overall a great light for those dark and grey winter days in the Pacific Northwest. Note, this is a large light and needs space. Positives: Excellent size, easy to use, solid stand, impactful luminosity Preferences: The base is large and requires a good amount of space. it would be great if the light would not only pivot vertically, but the ability to rotate left and right would improve adaptability for those who have less space. I can’t speak to the durability (I see that they have a warranty, so hopefully they’ll honor that if the durability issues are true), but I’ve had no issues so far a few weeks in. This light has been a game changer for me in the morning. I really struggle with mornings during the winter season when it’s darker later. It has felt impossible to wake up. Having this light has made mornings tolerable and has made a noticeable difference in how I feel in the morning. It’s easy to use, the light quality is good. It’s not an eyesore necessarily, but it’s huge! So make sure you have a space for it. I also think it made my pothos grow more, interestingly enough. ... show more

I bought this lamp and decided to measure it with my AH-300 lux meter to see what it actually delivers. At normal sitting distance, the average LUX across the main exposure area was around 15,000lx. Color temperature measured close to 4000K, which feels appropriate for daily light therapy — bright, neutral, not overly blue. What I appreciated most during testing was being able to see not just the center reading, but the overall distribution. The AH-300 makes it easy to record multiple points and calculate the average, so you get a more realistic picture instead of relying on a single peak number. If you’re comparing therapy lamps, having a reliable meter like the AH-300 really changes how you evaluate them. Specs on the box don’t always reflect real use distance or uniformity.     • Works very well, but framework is flimsier than expected
This lamp arrived promptly. It was awkward to handle to assemble, and I accidentally dropped the base about two feet onto a carpeted floor. The weight that was glued to the underside of the base popped off and some small edges of the plastic frame (not visible when the lamp is standing on the table) broke off. I re-screwed the weight, and the lamp is stable. The light box component is excellent. I bought this lamp specifically because it has both a health setting and a lower task setting, and I do use both. Previously I had borrowed a friend's older version of this light, which has a sturdier metal base and arm, so I was disappointed by the flimsier plastic that is now provided. ... show more

    • Best remedy I’ve tried so far!
My current PCP doesn’t have enough history with me to understand how well I know my chronic issues and didn’t believe that my Circadian Rhythm delayed-phase sleep disorder, which stress may aggravate, is not a psychosomatic issue. So, on my own, I looked up more current treatments (I was last treated for it 25 yrs ago with mild sleeping pills and sleep hygiene training) and found the clinical guidelines for light therapy. No drugs needed! Given that my system is under major stress with my current severe health crisis, I didn’t want to try and work it out slowly with disciplined sleep hygiene regimen, but wanted a quicker treatment that would be minimally taxing. I highly recommend light therapy and the manufacturer posts the specific clinical guidelines for the five or six types of sleep disorders in adults and children that light therapy actually works for. I’ve been using my lamp as consistently as I can between hospital stays and appointments and can say that it works for me. There is no cure for my sleep disorder, only the ability to reset and then maintain until life circumstances throws it off again. The light is affordable, doesn’t require prescription, and helps my mood. Because of my health issues, maintaining a more positive frame of mind is difficult and I’m under lifting restrictions so the lamp placement isn’t optimum, but still works. You’ll need a sturdy base , I use a side table and when I can move it, a well-designed sturdy bed laptop tray. This design has the largest surface, but is slightly top-heavy and solid, so weight might be an issue when someone is in recovery or under lifting restrictions as I am temporarily. My only wish is for a dimmer. Because of my current limitations, a dimmer would make the regular light setting work better for me as a reading light. As it is, I use a light colored pillow case to cover and that works. ... show more
